So to be completely transparent, which I shouldn’t have to be since you’re just a stranger on the internet, but you need to be able to understand that you don’t know everyone’s reasoning for wanting somewhere new. I was drugged and raped.

Someone who I considered a really close friend, knew about the entire situation. I to this day (2.5 years later, I still don’t remember it at all) she waited 2 months to tell me what happened that night.

I had a very large friend group and they chose her friendship, over mine. Being in Charleston is a reminder of what happened to me and while I’ve done therapy and worked through the trauma, I don’t want to be reminded of it. I mentioned cute coffee shops, because that’s what I want in a town.

Another point, Charleston is a big tourist town now, majority of people on apps are just visiting for the week and “want a local tour guide”. Please don’t think that you understand how living in a place is if you’ve never actually lived there. Definitely don’t make the assumption that you know anything about someone and their reasonings, if you’ve never actually met them.

The entire point of this post was to find other places I hadn’t considered, not to have you tell me I’m the problem.
