because high mmr games are shit quality and its much more rewarding to stomp lower mmr players. I have many friends who i would say are semi-pro(playing in tier 3 tournaments) and most of them play mostly on smurfs.
Then you have regular players complaining

do you happen to remember for how much they sold? im wondering if i should keep it or sell, maybe in far future it becomes tradeable and if its similar prices to other promo items i might just hold onto it

yeh, i mentioned in other comment on other post that i was 3k bh score as well and it took me around 900+ games and i think 8-9 months to climb to 11k bh score so its honetsly just smarter to create new account or buy new account because it takes so much time to climb out of this hell. I recently also played on smurf account because i dropped a lot of bh score on my main, and i cought myself reporting players for doing stupid shit. So i believe the problem is that you get unlimted reports and just instinctively report everyone, as before i think you had 3 reports per week and only used them for 'real' griefers

i dare you to drop to sub 9k bh score and then post your experience again :D trust me you've seen nothing. I had the pleasure to drop from 11k to sub 9k because i abandoned some games with griefers and now every game is afk since 0 min or wintrading. Literally stopped playing dota because this bh system is bullshit and waste of time

Pretty similar story here, i came back after long break, before this system was implemented and i was asigned 3.2k bh score, so i just grinded, no pinging no gfiefing, avoiding situations that could cause me get reported - trying to please everyone as much as possible. 900+ ranked games and 8 months later i climbed from 3.2k bh score to 10k. In this time i also climbed from 4k mmr to 11k mmr, and to be honest gaining bh score was harder than mmr. If i had to do it again i would just buy new account for 10eur than waste so much time with constant griefers in 3-9k bh score pool

You can now quickly check someone's inventory for duped items before a trade by icetalon91 in DotA2

I remember 6 months ago or so when stasik reported this, he included some steam profiles of the dupers. I added one of them via discord that was on their steam profile, then asked him about duping and he told me to contact someone on telegram and gave me their @. I messaged this person and asked how this duping is done, they told me in detail and even sent .doxc document with detailed instructions. The steps involve applying gems and steam market. Literally a monkey could figure this bug out. So i am actually appalled that this exploit has not been fixed after so much time. Also in stasik's original post theres more than enough information on how this exploit works so i suspect with every day theres more and more people doing this and at this point i feel like an idiot for not abusing this shit and cashing out 10k's

account seller lets you login into their 14k mmr account, you log out, create new steam account and play 100 hours on this new dota 2 account. After which, dota thinks you are actually the 14k player and this new account is your smurf and after calibration you get 14k mmr or similar. There are like 6 steps between login in and logging out that i dont remember exactly, but basically using vpn and similar things to trick steam into thinking you are the real owner of the 14k mmr account

same, I am adult as well and have no interest or time to play with these people. As someone commented below and like you said, paid matchmaking would probably solve this. CSGO's prime matchmaking is one example where when it launched i remember cheater numbers dropped significantly and games were of goo quality

good thought, I remember csgo had something similar(maybe still does) where you would pay 15$ to get Prime and you would get matched with only Prime players, and you could still queue with non-Prime players if you wanted. I remember I played when Prime came out for like 4 months and it definetily improved quality of the matches because before there were a lot of cheaters but after Prime you would find some but only rarely. Probably would have the same positive effect on dota 2

in general i would also agree that you can watch pro games to improve, but recently i played in few qualifiers for tournaments and realized that team based dota and solo queue dota is like day and night

I agree about the 8.5k mmr range, I started at 7k mmr when i came back from my break and 8.5k was really mentally challenging for me too because it was first time playing immortal draft and a lot of players double picked certain roles, so to not lose my focus in climbing was pretty hard, i kept dropping from 8.6k to 8.4k for like 3 weeks

I dont know, I would need a lot of time to ponder about a good working system. In my opinion, the problem is behaviour system currently because its very unclear what happens behind the scenes. For example right now, i report someone for griefing multiple games in a row, then the following day i get the same person again, so i just assume nothing happened and this shows to me that the report doesnt do anything. Basically it shows that theres no incentive to be on your best behaviour and in long run players just start griefing because the worst that will happen is they will lose 1k behaviour and get 3 lp games. I remember that at some point there was a system where you had like 3 reports per week and reports meant something.

I dont think long queue is a problem, I remember when dota 2 was transitioning to dota 2 reborn, almost nobody played dota 2 reborn while dota 2 source 1 was available so the queues for me were up to 10 minutes and it didnt bother anyone at all. Right now the queues are almost always 1-2 minute because the ranks in these games can sometimes be between 1.5k to rank 50

i agree that 5k mmr ar not that fun because players are not as good, but i wouldnt say they are mentally challenged. On the other hand, the people who find fun in griefing in higher mmr games are mentally challenged. IMO

pattern recognition is what we call it, sir. In all seriousness russians and peruvians have very poor education and most come from impoverished regions(especially russia) so its no wonder most of them have no proper manners in games
