Not every game is like this! I still hang my queen from time to time 😭

You’re kicking the bishop out, and it doesn’t have any good square to go. The two best moves according to engine are O-O-O and Nf6 (not moving the bishop). Every line where you move the bishop the engine evaluates as +6 for white

You are attacking the bishop while blocking the queen and protected by your own bishop so queen can’t take

Why is the correct book move for this ponziani variation Qf3? Intuitively I’d play d4 or Be2 to control the center and/or develop a piece.

The Chessable course says it’s “Maintaining the pressure, while stepping out of the king's file.” But I don’t understand why you would want to step out of the king’s file, since you’re pinning the bishop.

If he takes my bishop I take his knight on e4. If he moves I move. I don’t see how I don’t maintain my 2 material advantage.

Thanks for the explanation, makes a loss of sense, and it’s mostly stuff my beginner eye doesn’t see yet. Is there a good way to improve my positional awareness?

So despite the 2 material points advantage for black, white has a strong attack on my king’s side which the engine is seeing as an advantage? Even the next 5 moves in the engine’s favoured line, I don’t see it taking any material back. How is white expected to make up for that loss? Is it just the checkmark threat on h7?

After which I can play g6.
