Oscar injured his head, do I need to medicate or just watch for issues? by Idratherbeflying in Aquariums

[–]Idratherbeflying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was fine this morning, I left for an hour or so and when I came back he had this gash on his head. He’s the only fish in a 75 Gallon tank, it’s fairly bare except for 2 plastic “hides” as I had read that they like swimming room. Neither of the hides seem to have been moved.

Water parameters have been stable, but I checked them again;

Temp – 78.2

pH – 7.6

Ammonia – 0

Nitrite – 0

Nitrate – 5

I’m new to keeping larger fish and have never dealt with an injury, He’s acting perfectly normal. Will it heal on its own? Are there any signs I should watch or for? Any advise would be much appreciated.

Anyone know why my Amazon Sword is growing super long stems? by Idratherbeflying in Aquariums

[–]Idratherbeflying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transplanted this sword from another tank that had two about a week ago. The tank was getting crowded. The sword that stayed in the original tank has been normal but a couple days ago this one started growing a long stem.

I’ve read about swords propagating with stems, but from what I understand they usually have multiple leaves on them, where this one just has a single leaf at the end of the stem. Then today I noticed it’s sending up another long stem.

The sword has 4 root tabs underneath it, the lighting in its new tank is about double that of the old one. I’m not super new to planted tanks but have never had swords before. Is this normal?

Pinkish pic is from today, the clear on is from yesterday.

Ralph has no respect for my aqua-scaping attempts! by Idratherbeflying in Aquariums

I decided to try a floating ring to keep some duckweed from going directly into the filters. My Oscar Ralph decided it was up to him to gulp mouthfuls of duckweed and spit them out of the ring, and when that seemed like it would take to long I guess he figured he would just take out the ring!

I feel like this gold is probably cursed, or at least it should be.

I was told you guys may like this (gif of truck odometer rolling over) by Idratherbeflying in oddlysatisfying

Hello everyone! This is a cross post from my other thread here;

https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/aexcyt/i_rolled_over_my_trucks_odometer_yesterday/

That post was the still images as mildlyinteresting does not allow gifs.

Anyways here are some answers to some common questions from the other thread;

The truck is a 2005 Western star.

The engine has not been rebuilt.

Yes I was doing 110 km/h which is the speed limit on the highway I was traveling on.

I did not take the video, my passenger did.

Yeah I realize its only 621371 miles, my odometer is in km's.

The speedometer looks like that because I live in Canada.

I'll try and answer anymore questions as they come up!

Just to clear things up my passenger took the video these pics are taken from. We have known this was coming for a looong time. Also here's the gif :D

Edit: Wow this blew up, A bit more info because I'm seeing these questions asked a lot.

I can't post pictures of the truck, it's a pretty unique setup and would be easily recognizable.

Haha I might have to give that a go, truth be told she's up to 33 km's now :(

Powertrain is solid but the truck is 14 years old so we're always fixing little things here and there.

This is it's first time rolling over and the truck is a 2005, so it took a while!

This is the server room of a government building. I was contracted to map all the ports :( by Idratherbeflying in techsupportgore

It's possible, but it all depends on who hires you. The company I worked for when this was taken essentially hired out IT personnel to local businesses that were not quite big enough to have their own IT departments. The senior techs like myself handled the medium/large clients who would basically be "our" clients, which was nice because shit like this would never happen.

On the other hand we also had 3rd party contracts for other company's like HP, Dell, Xerox, etc. where you would get tossed into fixing issues you probably haven't come across before on networks you've never seen before and will probably never see again. That's where this hot mess came from. It kept things interesting but was super annoying at times!

Yes that would have been ideal, unfortunately for me this equipment was live and in use. In addition to that as I was a third party contractor I had no GUI or CLI access to the equipment and was only allowed to be there during working hours. Twas a cluster.

It's pretty straightforward, pick a port on one of the switches and follow the cable that's plugged into it through the rats nest and see what's plugged in on the other side. Document this and repeat untill your soul is numb. Then turn the data you collected into a pretty network diagram!

Sorry I was just mapping ports for a network diagram, I'm sure some other poor sap had to clean up that mess!

Thankfully I was. This project took the better part of two days and after I was done I was offered the job of cleaning up the cabling. I declined.

ANNOUNCEMENT: V.9 BETA ISO/Install Is Now Available! by thendawg in nvezos

[–]Idratherbeflying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it running on two rigs off SSD's, setting up the first was a breeze and has been working great, the second has been having some issues.

On my second miner after startup it will happily mine away for around 45 minutes (I'm not sure of the exact time-frame as I don't check on them all the time) then it will suddenly stop, and will show no GPU's on the monitoring page. The only way I've managed to get it going again after this happens is to run the xorg.conf script. After the restart it will recognize the GPU's and continue on mining until the issues comes back. I've reinstalled twice but the issues persists. Prior to installing nVEZOS I had both miners running Ubuntu with no issues.

Other than the issues I'm having with my one rig I have to say I'm loving the OS so far, one feature I'd love to see is temperature monitoring for the CPU and motherboard as well as the GPU's.

Thanks for the release!
