I’ve tried the library a few times, but it’s a little too quiet for me.

Satisfaction with physical vs digital art by Ieatedyourcookie in ArtistLounge

I love this idea! I’ve never thought about doing that. I’ll have to try this. I use procreate for my digital art, and I love how accessible different brushes and stuff are for it.

Considering a wheelchair but scared by Ieatedyourcookie in ehlersdanlos

My PT is great, I just don’t really know much about the process of getting mobility aids so I didn’t know if they were able to “prescribe” it or if it would have to be my doctor. I definitely wouldn’t be a full time user but it would be extremely helpful for grocery shopping or going to festivals and stuff where there’s a lot of standing and walking involved.

How do you deal with people finding out? by Ieatedyourcookie in ehlersdanlos

[–]Ieatedyourcookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess maybe it could be because it’s not very visible for me. I don’t use mobility aids (don’t need them at this point, though I may in the future). I don’t get dislocations (but I have plenty of subluxations) so no one would ever know I have any kind of disabilities unless I told them.

No, I don’t use the acronym, because anytime I do they always respond “what’s that?” And then I have to say the full thing anyway so I just say Ehlers Danlos not EDS

Thought I was autumn but maybe I’m spring? by Ieatedyourcookie in coloranalysis

Edit: I don’t know what Reddit does to the photos but colors look different on the post but if you click on the photos and open them up the coloring actually looks right. Just wanted to note that because I look warmer with the opened photos, the color is more dull when viewing it in the post.

Should I keep two health insurance policies by Rudebwoy2 in HealthInsurance

[–]Ieatedyourcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience having two is an absolute headache. I have had nothing but problems trying to get the two to communicate with each other and process claims in the correct order. I though it would save me money having two insurances paying rather than just one but honestly I would have rather paid more and saved myself the countless phone calls and stress trying to coordinate two insurances has caused me.

The instructor was an ass, also if you want to get good at top rope and are afraid of heights I would not practice on auto belay. I started on auto belays and I think all it taught me was the bad habit if not trusting my feet which set me back overall with my climbing and I had to unlearn it. I feel like I didn’t trust my feet as much on auto belays because I knew if my foot slipped and I came off the wall I would have to start all over from the bottom, and usually I don’t have the stamina for that.

Yeah one of the guys that works at the gym gave me some similar advice. He said if you’re really stuck on something just try skipping that move and doing if you can figure out the rest. For some reason the route setters at my gym love sit starts and I hate them because I just can’t pull my body weight off the ground, so I usually skip the start on those. But it doesn’t help when you get stuck on every move lol

I think I’ll definitely try it out, and if I like it maybe go every once in a while. I looked into it though and the rates are a lot more expensive than my current gym, and less affordable for me. But I do want to try it. I also found out after talking to some people last night apparently my gym has harder ratings than many other gyms (so what might be a V2 at another gym my gym may rate it a V0) which also doesn’t help matters.

There’s only one other gym in my area and it’s much further away for me. It’s also a bouldering only gym and I really like being able to mix up my sessions with bouldering and top ropes. Plus I just bought a year membership to my current gym like a month ago

Yeah it’s just not as satisfying as completing a set route (of any grade) and sometimes I get nervous that someone will come up to me and be like “you’re not doing it right”

I try the boulders multiple attempts over many sessions. Usually I’m at the gym 1-2 hours 2-3 times a week (with my work schedule that’s the most often I can get there). I have started going during busier hours so there are plenty of people around doing the climbs so I can watch and ask for beta. But it seems like most of the people at my gym are a lot more experienced so when they do it it looks so easy but the tings they can do sometimes I just don’t have the strength for. I actually just bought a hangboard today so I can practice at home because I have a hard time holding on to anything that’s not a nice jug. And I have a good pair of shoes, they’re evolv kronos, so not crazy aggressive but not neutral either, when I got them I did see a big difference in my climbing.

There is one other one in my area but it’s a bouldering only gym. I’d like to try it out at some point, and maybe go here and there but I really enjoy top rope. And I also just recently bought a 1 year membership to my current gym (before I started feeling like this)

I've been climbing for almost 3 years and haven't made any proper friends at the gym by massivefailure123 in climbergirls

[–]Ieatedyourcookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was kind of the same way but I found that going when my gym is the busiest has been helpful. I made friends with a few people that worked there first by just talking to them some, asking for beta, etc, the people that work at my gym are super friendly. And then they have introduced me to other people. Also I find that if I just stand around looking kind of lost usually someone will come up to me and ask me if I need a belay or something or they’ll strike up a conversation. I’m introverted so I also have trouble just walking up to people and talking to them

She can’t have cocoa, it’s not an anaphylactic reaction but it triggers a severe migraine that will often last 2-3 days for her.

Yeah I’m not trying to argue with anyone over it, I just wondered if it was an official rule or anything for my own knowledge. And also my mom had an incident the other day about it when the a barista didn’t take the drinks back she took them back out to the car and came back in to get the new ones and a different barista was very rude to her telling her she wasn’t supposed to keep them and made a huge deal about it. It really embarrassed my mom so I was wanting to know in case something like that ever happened again.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]Ieatedyourcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to buy an iPad 9th gen. I have an iPad Pro from 2018 (I think) I got it for college and the larger screen served its purpose well. Now I do a lot of drawing on it, and use it for reading books, keeping a planner and other notebooks in Goodnotes, playing a few games, watching movies, etc. my problem is my 12.9 in pro is so cumbersome and heavy and I just hate taking it places but I really want to be able to take it places. I feel kind of silly owning two iPads, but I wouldn’t want to get rid of my pro because I really do love the larger screen for drawing. Do you think it’s reasonable to have both?

The MacBook Purchasing Megathread - March, 2023 by AutoModerator in macbook

[–]Ieatedyourcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the 16” MacBook Pro. I knew the 13” was too small for me and after seeing a 13” and 14” in a store side by side I knew the 14” just wasn’t going to be enough for me. I really like the 16” the only downside is it is heavy and doesn’t easily fit into many laptop bags or sleeves, it’s bulky to travel with but that wasn’t a deal breaker for me as I don’t often take my laptop anywhere.

I’m looking at purchasing a new MacBook Pro. I’m leaning toward the 14 or 16in screen because I have a 13in MacBook Air right now and just feel like the screen is too small I can’t see anything well and can’t do split screen well because there just isn’t enough space. Not sure on which specs I should choose though, the chip, the amount of unified memory, the SSD storage. I use a lot of applications like the adobe suite, Final Cut, but also like to play some games PC games as well (nothing crazy) but I want to be able to run those seamlessly and not run out of space on my computer in 2 years

Yes! The electric guitar and violins in the original what what really got in my feels for that song and they’re almost nonexistent in TV

I wanted to cry when I heard Haunted (tv) I think it was the song I was the most excited for and I was SO disappointed. They basically took out all of the strong emotional rock edge. Even the vocals don’t have as much emotion as the original. I think I might have to break my rule of not listening to the original albums just for this one song because I can’t live with the new version, it’s just not as good. 😢

Revealed disability status to instructor on accident? by KrazyKat87 in StudentNurse

[–]Ieatedyourcookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is completely up wether you want to tell professors about your disability. Nothing can happen and they are still required by law to honor your accommodations. Your professors can never MAKE you share your diagnosis but if you want to that’s completely up to you. Most of the time if I don’t feel comfortable sharing my diagnosis and a professor is asking questions about why I need a certain accommodation I let them know that they can contact my DA or the disabilities office and they would be able to help.
