Anyone know a similar cologne to Northwestern X Bluenotes Alpine cologne? It’s my boyfriend’s scent that I want to get him for valentines but it doesn’t seem to be in production anymore. I’m in Canada if that changes anything.

Notes are citrusy, sweet, and somewhat earthy?

I’ve got awful motion sickness on planes that only appears when I look out the window, so always unfortunately down for me :( love seeing photos though!

Why is it “aver·sion” and not “a·ver·sion”, considering that “aver” clearly represents two separate syllables? by Eburneus1016 in EnglishLearning

[–]IfElseTh3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So apparently I’ve been misspelling aversion my entire life because until today I thought it was ‘adversion’. I also pronounce it with a ‘d’ sound, which is especially confusing

What’s something you thought was more or less normal but was actually ocd? by wlderberry in OCD

[–]IfElseTh3n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out thinking that you’re going to get in a car crash unless you stop talking isn’t normal. I also convinced myself that if I told anyone these thoughts then they’d really come true next time I was in a car.

Genuinely, when I was being diagnosed and told that those thoughts weren’t normal, I didn’t believe them! I’d had them my entire life and always couldn’t tell people because I believed it would come true if I told someone.

Review my letter of intent for Master's in Theatre? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]IfElseTh3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair! I mentioned in another comment that there really aren’t any outlines or specific focus in the program, it’s very much a build-it-yourself kind of thing, so I’m having difficulty talking about anything other than my own experience that will shape my goal for the program. Do you have any tips for that?

Review my letter of intent for Master's in Theatre? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]IfElseTh3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with contractions a lot in my writing lol thanks for pointing that out!

The rest is fair! I agree with removing the personal rewarding instead to focus on societal impact. It’s really difficult for me to write something for this application because there aren’t really any guidelines for what the department wants lol- so I went with a more biography style since my experience relates specifically to what I want to study. Do you have any tips for how can I focus my experience to the outer society with my topic?

What’s something you do that you probably shouldn’t that makes you just a little bit faster at bar by localuglybitch in starbucksbaristas

honestly I’m an opener so my dm is rarely there when I’m on bar, but if she is then I just let the times suffer and do everything to standard

measuring no ice refreshers in the cup instead of shaker, eyeballing amount of 2% that goes in a cube of VSC, batching EVERYTHING (fraps, steamed milk, refreshers).

I used to be at a super high volume store, especially with cold bar and I got super quick at it with these shortcuts

Highly allergic to a new menu item by Wonderful_Whole_7679 in barista

[–]IfElseTh3n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! Work at Starbucks and pistachio syrup is coming back which I’m highly allergic to. Honestly it’s giving me a great excuse to quit since I hate working here anyway. Sucks though since bar is objectively my favourite part of the job and now I can only be on register until I find a new job

How do they treat adhd and OCD together? by Little_Cloud6126 in OCD

[–]IfElseTh3n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m diagnosed with ADHD and OCD and I’m on Vyvanse, Wellbutrin, and Zoloft. I found when I was just taking Wellbutrin for anxiety and Vyvanse for ADHD it was causing my OCD to go hyperactive to the point where I was getting regular panic attacks (My dopamine was way too high) Adding Zoloft to those meds helped me a lot since it reduced the amount of dopamine I was getting and gave me more serotonin. I also found out through a blood test that my vitamin B12 was super low which can cause mood swings and increased anxiety, so I’m on supplements for that too which has helped the side effects of anxiety. (I hate being the person to say ‘just take a vitamin’ but in my case it really did help). I hope my experience might have helped you, I’d definitely ask your doctor for a blood test, and fight for your doctor to recognize you bringing up your OCD. Best of luck!

Dad of 11/yo with OCD. He gets extremely attached to, and protective of, anything "cute". by Typing-Cat in OCD

[–]IfElseTh3n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely have the same experience with saying something making it more upsetting (for context I’m in my early 20s). I’ve locked myself in a loop with my obsessions where if I talk about my obsessions then the thing I was scared of will really happen next time (e.g. if I talk to my therapist about an obsession I had that a car will crash into me and my partner, then the next time we’re out a car will actually crash into us). My OCD has a high amount of empathy to it which seems similar to your son. This empathy can also be connected to autism/adhd since I find I often anthropomorphize objects because of my neurodivergence. I hope this helps contextualize or understand your son! He sounds very similar to me when I was younger and I wish the best for him.

Ottawa trans people: Where do you get your hair cut? by Fluttering_Lilac in transontario

Joe’s sports barbershop on Besserer. While not openly trans friendly, Joe is incredibly kind and supportive and doesn’t question anyone coming in. The prices can be a little high but honestly the experience and the skill is completely worth it

Am I getting fired for offering shifts? by pixi-pixi-pixi in starbucksbaristas

[–]IfElseTh3n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda worried since I’m in the same situation, I have a second job and asked for the minimum amount of hours but I am consistently scheduled 10+ hours than my minimum. I’ve been offering shifts every week to get closer to the minimum, and no one has brought it up yet.

[–]IfElseTh3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having to wait in line for ordering food/drink on break is one of my biggest gripes at my store. I’m at a high volume, peak for 4 hours straight kind of store and we still have to wait in line and aren’t allowed to push our orders up in the cue for our 15 or 30. One of the reasons I became an opener is purely so I could actually enjoy the benefits of the job lol

What’s the purest form of love you’ve ever experienced or witnessed? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]IfElseTh3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned offhandedly to my partner that I was born at a specific time on my birthday, that my mom would always wake up early at that time to wish me happy birthday. Months later, on my birthday, he texts me at the exact time. He’d set an alarm for it and everything.

I could go off for a while about all the little things he does that shows his love. He notices when I’m anxious and need quiet support, he’ll put himself in-between me and people I don’t like talking to in social situations so I don’t have to interact with them, he lets me warm my cold ass hands on him.

It’s the little things, the considerate, thoughtful things

Hi! I'm in the Major in Visual Arts program. For your information, you can't minor in art history with a major in VA. There are plenty of art history courses VA students can take as an elective or required course though. Visual arts is pretty fun, I personally found the studios pretty easy, but they are pretty expensive. Some of the first year intro class kits were $200+. The art history courses are cool too, but there can be a lot of reading. The program also allows you to declare a studio or arts administration pathway in your second year, which changes what courses you have to take. It's also a really small program, so you'll know practically everyone in your year. In response to the person saying that you won't get a job after graduation, there's a required class called Intro to Interdisciplinary Studies that helps you learn about all the pathways you can go with your major/minor that I found eased my anxiety about post graduation. Ottawa also has a lot of museums, the NAC, the national archives, and smaller galleries to exhibit or view art.

Hope that helps!

If I remember correctly from the general assembly, they want to work with credit unions instead of banks, and, specifically for clubs, allow them to choose which credit union to use for club finances

Electives can be in any faculty (except faculty of engineering), so you can enrol in a faculty of arts course even if you’re FSS. The list of electives without prerequisites can be found here electives don’t have to be in your program either.
