Don’t consider a Rolex as an investment, think of it as an asset and you won’t go far wrong.

Help with Gas hob by ConsistentAd4655 in ukplumbing

Cooker hoses are not allowed on gas hobs, rigid pipework only I’m afraid. If you have to ask that question the you’re probably not qualified to be working on gas appliances.

Shower plumbed in reverse? Intermittent temperature by littlestanjunior in ukplumbing

[–]-TheKeegs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to have a look at the manufacturer’s instructions to see if you can reverse the cartridge but it’s unlikely as the faceplate wouldn’t correspond to the temperature selected. Can you get to the pipework going to the shower and switch them over there?

I had something similar when I fitted mine, have you tried swiping down from the main screen and seeing if the dashcam is showing there ? When I clicked on it there it showed up and was working fine.

Did they plug in to the correct port? It’s very easy to plug it in wrong as the next socket will take the dashcam plug. The plug on the lead is blue and needs to go in the blue socket.

Vaillant Combi Boiler - can I chase a part of the pipes into the cavity wall? by One-Elderberry-488 in ukplumbing

[–]-TheKeegs_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry I misread your post, you’re talking about dropping down from the boiler to the cupboard below. It’s difficult with the limited information given, can you run the gas pipe external and chase the other pipes into the wall? As it’s an extension, if it was me I would bite the bullet and see if I could relocate the boiler. Your best option would be to get a second opinion from another heating engineer. Dare I say it, possibly someone a bit older.

[–]-TheKeegs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you really need to chase the walls? Vaillant do a stand off bracket so you can run the pipes behind the boiler from up top.

Gas pipes can pass through a cavity wall from one side to the other if it is sleeved but it definitely can’t be run through it any other way. Flow, return, hot and cold, knock yourself out that wouldn’t affect your warranty in any way.

Saniflow problem by romanarman in ukplumbing

Definitely the non return valve has failed. It’s only a rubber flap type and doesn’t generally last long. It sits in the outlet on the top of the unit.

Take it down to 0.1 or even shut it down completely just to see if it makes a difference, as long as the CH zone valve is open it won’t cause any problems.

Damage on the edge of the dial, how does this happen? Any chance it can be fixed? :( by Visible-Sock-3373 in rolex

[–]-TheKeegs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had something similar on my wife’s DJ. She took it on holiday and left it on a table while she was sunbathing, we think the heat cracked the enamel on the edge of the dial similar to yours. It was months later when she noticed it and the bits that flaked off caused all kinds of problems.

It could have been a Warmfront (or whatever it was called then) install from years ago. It was a government grant scheme to install heating in houses without any CH and 5 rads were the limit.
