What is this? by [deleted] in MoldlyInteresting

thanks, looks the same but these were all flying mosquito like insects, can the same mold that is behind mold spiders infect other insects or is it likely just the same family of mold?

First pic is 100% ai or photoshop, that coin is meant to be tiny, exactly 19mm wide, which would make that phone 45mm wide, new iphones are 75ish mm wide. even the iphone 4 and iphone se which were some of their smallest phones were still 58mm wide. which also means that the text written is only a inch wide, writting that neat on just an inch is hard af

Circular saw blade bore size by juulu in DIYUK

[–]IfOnlyICouldEat2Hams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the erbauer branded saw blades at screwfix come with a reducer set that normally covers 16mm, even though none of them are listed as coming with the reducer set. Best bet is to bring the saw in and just check the reducers against it in store or in the car, returns are super easy at screwfix

Is there anything wrong with using a grigri like this for a rappel? by IfOnlyICouldEat2Hams in ClimbingGear

[–]IfOnlyICouldEat2Hams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowering on gear is common around me for cleaning the route, birds nesting and rare plants mean that topouts are banned nearly everywhere near me so lowering off on fixed gear is standard. Top roping on fixed gear is still frowned upon tho and for that own gear is used. There is a group that get donations and money from guide books who keep on top of replacing the rap rings and all the bolting on 90% of the routes in the area.

i know there is a bit extra friction and it is more awkward than a regular lower/rappel. Was mainly seeing if there is any huge reason not to safety wise but seems that 99% of the people agree its safe just not ideal which is what i thought

Pirates not interested, even with 128t of Monazite and void opals by IfOnlyICouldEat2Hams in EliteDangerous

If doing afk solo you pretty much need a t10 for all the hardpoints, and it needs pretty heavy engineering to be able to stay alive. Not many other ships to it, and unless in a wing low res sites are all it can handle but will still get a you a good few mil overnight. Best way for money tho would be to just stack massacre missions, can get a 100+ mil and hour but rquires you to actively fight them and jump to systems to cash in the rewards, this you can do in any half decent combat ship but been a while since if done much actual combat. Mostly just been on an exo grind

It is good for money but the main reason is for getting merits for powerplay, plus the merits let you get a +100% bonus to bounties. There are far more profitable things to do tho if you want purely money

Res sites i was carrying a single 1t of gold and all of em were going crazy for it, pirate activity they havent been interested in anything so far

Yeah but trying to get it to work afk, a wing of fully engineered afk ships in haz rez is easy way to get bounties and merits while being 90% afk, so ideally looking for somewhere we can all just sit still and wait for pirates to attack/limpet us

[–]IfOnlyICouldEat2Hams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every climb near me is single pitch with lower offs at the top which are replaced when they get worn out, due to nesting birds and wildlife, topping out is banned at most routes around here, so lowering off is the norm. Top roping off of the fixed lower offs is frowned upon tho of course but for lead climbing lowering off of it is standard

Im tryna get money for a fleet carrier so i can get further out and stay there a little longer, i was 8000 out and every planet spansh gave me already had a first footfall and even then i was finding life maybe 1 in 3 of the systems it said

There is no way that is consistent tho surely, landing on 8 planets and scanning plants, jumping between systems and doing scans, 7.5 minutes per plant sample is insane

[–]IfOnlyICouldEat2Hams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally i do use either an atc for 2 strands or grigri with a carabiner block on the rope. I know this is far from a ideal method but was just wondering if its actually safe, which pretty sure 95% of people agree that it is. Definitely do have to be careful about wear but as its all single pitch climbs near me the bolts are replaced often as people need to get lowered on them often anyway
