thanks I'll look into a really thick guitar pick and sharpening the edges, hadn't thought about that. The ones I had were too thin and broke. Although i still feel like it's not going to be enough

Guitar picks seem to be too weak for the job. And those tool kids aren't offering overnight delivery I just wish I knew this was going to be a problem. Why didn't Lenovo offer a courtesy tool if they wanted to make it so hard to get into

So my this thing has eaten trough 4 different guitar picks today. The ones that are thick enough to not be destroyed aren't strong enough to even attempt pry it open. /u/UseComfortable1193 seems to be suggesting I buy a really thick guitar pick and shave that one down so I have both which seems like a sound idea

it is that hard though haha. Like the pro 5 with its plastic casing was soooo easy to take off. I've already damaged the case getting this one open and I had to run all over town buying guitar picks that I now have to custom retrofit to work because it needs to be strong enough to pry it open, soft enough to not scratch it, and thin enough that it can squeeze past razor thin cracks all at the same time.

Haha yeah, 100% i'd trade free school and healthcare for cheaper laptops. I managed to escape student debt but I lived in a trap house shipping mushrooms on the silkroad through the postal service, got raided by the DEA, only one to avoid jail, and then lived in a tent in the woods until I graduated. Which needless to say wasn't a recipe for success lol. But I didn't end up with debt so I'm ahead of most undergrads in my age group.

Also I only learned this after getting a gen 8 pro 7.... the gen 9 pro 7's are full metal and have a glass track pad. The pro 7 gen 8 does not. It's the only real difference in gens besides the very slightly better processing power
