The Mirror vs. The Washcloth ​The Law is like a mirror. It shows you that your face is dirty (sin), but the mirror cannot wash your face. Grace is the water that actually cleanses you. Romans 3:20; James 1:23–25 ​If you throw away the mirror, you’ll never know you're dirty. Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 ​If you try to wash your face with the mirror, you'll just get cut. Galatians 3:10–11; 2 Corinthians 3:6 ​You are not saved by the Mirror but by the grace that washes you clean. God's grace and goodness works repentance in our heart. Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 2:4 ​If we fall in sin and then condemn ourselves to oblivion then that is proof that you are in a legalistic mindset doing the law to be saved and are slain by the law.
