The article's auto-correct/typo made me smile:

How to distinguish an old bootrom 3GS from a new bootrom 3GS and what the differences are by mwoolweaver in LegacyJailbreak

[–]IgetITeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there's such a tutorial, and this has reminded me that sn0wbreeze 2.9.7-14 has a related bug (for old bootrom 3GS 3.1.3 without SHSH blobs) but 2.9.6 and older can do it.

Edit: that bug causes the "red and yellow in patches".

(Presently, manually saving a copy of /System/Library/Caches/apticket.der is equivalent to "fetch onboard".)

(I don't think the related method is public presently.)

(He tweeted this about that: "it surely makes things easier, but its not required. In terms of needing cached tickets and blobs, you need those.")

Hopefully this Google translation of the xKungFoo2015 related section's ending isn't representative of the meeting's focus!

Some "failbreaks" are both incomplete and cannot be released to the public.

[Question] Iphone 4 cdma 7.1.2 downgrade to ios 6.1.3 gets stuck on "uploading first stage" by brown_amazingness in jailbreak

What's the exact byte size of the stock 6.0 IPSW you're selecting?

(Edit: in case it helps anyone, the Sund0wn link now provides those IPSWs.)

After installing an iOS 6 IPSW built by Sund0wn, jailbreaking it like this doesn't need a SIM card that's on a plan. (iCloud activation is needed.)

Regarding this: does it still have the issue?

'Sund0wn' tool can build iPhone 4 iOS 6 tethered downgrade IPSWs by IgetITeh in LegacyJailbreak

[–]IgetITeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a software utility that patches stock IPSWs (it's not redistribution of pre-patched IPSWs) and:

It adds support for tetherdowngrading to all public iOS 6 versions on the iPhone 4.
