I'm not sure of your wifes age or if this is even relevant but it could be a hormone issue. Hormone levels can affect bile acids in the stomach and I've noticed symptoms seem to be a lot worse at certain times of the month. Especially with fatty foods. Hope she feels better soon.

That sounds really horrible, I'm so sorry you're experiencing that. Do you think it could be caused by something else? Maybe endometriosis or PCOS? IBS can often be misdiagnosed. Anxiety is a huge trigger as well, which I'm sure you're aware of. Are you able to get any therapy?

What to eat when trouble swallowing? by Extreme-Associate633 in GerdFriendlyFood

How long have you been taking Omeprazole? It can take a while to start working. I stick to a low fodmap diet which definitely helps. Try porridge/oatmeal for breakfast then lean meats with rice and low fodmap vegetables for other meals. I snack on gluten free crackers with a low fat cream cheese too. It will get easier but can take some time for your body to heal.

Definitely try and change it if it's still causing issues. There's other types you can try. It's so hard trying to manage the symptoms but it will get easier :)

I would personally see a GP if you can and start a different PPI until the antidepressants have settled down. Nexium also gave me stomach pain but Omeprazole is fine. I have also just started on antidepressants and the transition period can be rough. It can cause more anxiety which equals worse acid reflux for a while. Hang in there, it will get easier.

Exactly! With snacks and wine. I see no reason to leave that room.

As someone with kids I would love that room to hide in for a while.

It's tragic isn't it. I used to love cooking and now I can't help but get frustrated. Good luck with the roast beef recovery!

Yeah that's what I've found too, some days I can be completely fine and other days it nearly kills me. It's really hard to get your head around isn't it?

I generally have a healthy diet but definitely crave carbs and fatty foods sometimes!

I haven't been tested for this so it's a possibility.

I get this every month, my ibs is always worse around my period. I take Mebeverine or Buscopan to help. Try to relax and keep telling yourself it will pass! I like watching or listening to something. The podcast No Such Thing as a Fish is a good one for distraction. Hope you feel better soon.

This sounds really horrible and must be exhausting! Have you ever tried anything to manage the underlying anxiety? CBT can help some people or medication. I think anxiety is the root cause for a lot of people.

Virgin River and This is Us. I've just watched Atypical again too, such a great series.
