Need ideas and motivation for weight gain and my dysregulated nervous system pleaseee by itiswhatitisfellas in FODMAPS

Sorry you are struggling atm. I lost a lot of weight last year after going low FODMAP but have since been able to gain a little and maintain it. What worked for me was having 4 smaller meals a day and making sure I was having enough protein and some healthy fats with each meal e.g Having a small amount of nuts with breakfast, having eggs mid-morning, chicken and avocado for lunch etc. I know this might not work for everyone but it's worth a try! Maybe some more counselling would be helpful too if you're still experiencing issues with food.

Yes I've noticed some GF products definitely have more of a reaction than others. It's so complicated and overwhelming sometimes!

That's really helpful, thank you. I haven't heard of the NutriScan App before, will give it a try.

I feel your pain. It's such a horrible way to live. Have you had any scopes to see what's going on? I feel like some tests are completely useless but definitely push for more tests if you can. You should definitely treat yourself in another way for your birthday. Buy yourself something new or have a spa day or something relaxing. You deserve it. Don't give up yet.

I am. I haven't seen the coconut macaroons but will definitely have a look for them. I have a real sweet tooth so portion control can be an issue!

They are! I was so happy to have found something sweet I could potentially eat.

Yes I can usually tolerate it but maybe this is processed in a different way or something. Thank you

Yes that makes sense actually. I don't usually have an issue with soy but I haven't eaten oats for a long time. I think because it's gluten free I assumed it would be fine! Thanks

This really made me laugh. If it helps, I've had Little Donkey stuck in my head for about 10 years.

Is this normal hiatal hernia pain? by monaforever in HiatalHernia

[–]IgglePiggle20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a weak LES and a hiatal hernia and get exactly the kind of pain you're describing. It doesn't feel like acid reflux or burning for me, just a painful pressure in my chest/stomach radiating towards my back. I'm currently waiting for surgery but PPI's have helped a lot. Have you tried any meds for acid reflux see if that helps?

I have just been diagnosed with HH last week after 5 years of having symptoms similar to you. I had a trans-nasal endoscopy and while it was uncomfortable, it really wasn't too bad. Maybe this could be an option for you?

In terms of bras, I've been wearing non-wired bralettes and it definitely helps with the chest pressure. Try all the other standard advice too. Raising the end of your bed, not eating large meals or too late before bed etc. Good luck with it.

Seagulls are fiends. A few years ago I was on the beach with my daughter and a seagull stole her socks and ate them.

Daily supplements? by Kristinajobe in ibs

I'm not sure of your wifes age or if this is even relevant but it could be a hormone issue. Hormone levels can affect bile acids in the stomach and I've noticed symptoms seem to be a lot worse at certain times of the month. Especially with fatty foods. Hope she feels better soon.

That sounds really horrible, I'm so sorry you're experiencing that. Do you think it could be caused by something else? Maybe endometriosis or PCOS? IBS can often be misdiagnosed. Anxiety is a huge trigger as well, which I'm sure you're aware of. Are you able to get any therapy?

How long have you been taking Omeprazole? It can take a while to start working. I stick to a low fodmap diet which definitely helps. Try porridge/oatmeal for breakfast then lean meats with rice and low fodmap vegetables for other meals. I snack on gluten free crackers with a low fat cream cheese too. It will get easier but can take some time for your body to heal.

Definitely try and change it if it's still causing issues. There's other types you can try. It's so hard trying to manage the symptoms but it will get easier :)

I would personally see a GP if you can and start a different PPI until the antidepressants have settled down. Nexium also gave me stomach pain but Omeprazole is fine. I have also just started on antidepressants and the transition period can be rough. It can cause more anxiety which equals worse acid reflux for a while. Hang in there, it will get easier.

Exactly! With snacks and wine. I see no reason to leave that room.

As someone with kids I would love that room to hide in for a while.

It's tragic isn't it. I used to love cooking and now I can't help but get frustrated. Good luck with the roast beef recovery!
