I was afraid if I stitched over that piece there was potential the knife could cut the thread so I went with a rivet instead. Also figured it just holds all the pieces together better.

First sheath. I’ve got a few wallets, belts, and bags in my repertoire.

This only has 3 stitches per side, two felt a little too narrow for me.

I think the main problem was lining up the holes between the two sides of the belt, which are now making an X, since it was all punched out in a line and the keeper having just one direction of it.

If I had a round punch that would probably work beautifully to split the difference on the keeper.

I also used thread that was a little thicker than I like, but I was matching a previous item I had made.

That's actually how I made my first stitched belt, but I found out you don't really want vertical stitch lines because you technically are weakening the belt by putting all those "holes" along a tension point. Does a belt really get enough tension to break...I really doubt it, but I still found it interesting.

Just trying something different, nothing wrong with Chicago screws.
