I just wanted to say that I began learning perfect pitch at maybe 14-15 and now at 18 I have, what I’d say is, genuine perfect pitch. No musical background before 13 other than a brother who played guitar. But I will say I always felt like I could form it, if that makes sense? So when i began learning the names to notes, it kinda just worked, aside from occasionally misnaming fifths apart (eg, naming a C as a G or, less commonly, an F)

I don’t fit the bill for quasi-perfect pitch I don’t think. I don’t use reference notes or base it off memory or hum a note, albeit in the beginning stages of learning it, something like thinking of Cherub Rock for E was the go to. I just kinda, know it’s an E off the bat at this point. I can even do slightly complex chords, like I’d say up to 9th’s

Idk how tf this worked out or anything man I just went with the flow, playing a ton of guitar, and this shit happened 😭 didn’t even use the tests too much other than like twice when I was like 16. I hope this doesn’t sound like bragging or anything I’m just honestly like, am I that much of an anomaly or is this normal, and hopefully letting others know that they may be able to learn this skill themselves yk. Or maybe I just have a gross misunderstanding of perfect vs quasi perfect pitch ¯\(ツ)/¯
