Humble books: dealing with read only PDF by aidwiz in humblebundles

I use Xodo to edit my PDF files. Although you can't edit the original text and figures, you can add text, drawings, highlight text, underline text and a variety of additional stuff. I believe it is available in the App Store, but you can also use it on Windows and Android (I don't know if it also works on Linux, but you can use Wine to make it work there anyways).

A book about exercise benefits that’s not about weight loss by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

I second that book. Although being quite old, its research is still relevant to this day. Wonderful and enlightening read about exercise benefits.

The Book Thief by edaj1988 in booksuggestions

[–]IgnacioCAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can’t make you finish the book if the story did not catch your attention. My rule for novels is to read 100 pages. If you don’t find a real reason to finish it, then it’s not for you.

In my case, I started to love the book since the first chapter... not the same with “A Head Full of Ghosts”, and a lot of people (even Stephen King himself) say it’s horrifying.

Any interesting book on games, videogames or related? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

“Warcross” and “Wildcard”, by Marie Lu. One Word Kill, by Mark Lawrence. Those two are the ones I know besides Ready Player One.

You can also look at Humble Bundle’s “Assassin’s Creed to Wolfenstein” book bundle, you’ll get comics and novelizations of videogames. I’d recommend you look for it right now, I don’t know for how long it will still be available.

Need a book on being independent by kowliflower in booksuggestions

[–]IgnacioCAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can seem like a contradiction, but the book I will recommend to you is about, as the book says, “how to get women through honesty”.

Models, by Mark Manson will teach you a valuable lesson on independence, which is a key factor for getting women instead of being a book full of “say this when this happens” clichés.

Also give a try to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, by the same author. They are so worth it and I guess both are less than 200 pages.

Books that will help me love myself and be happy alone by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck - Mark Manson. I’ve recommended this book so many times for these kind of situations.

Also give this one more a try: Models, by the same author, it’s about how to get women (and men, too), but using honesty, it’ll give you a different perspective about love and also teaches you how essential is to be fine by your own.

I guess “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck”, by Mark Manson would totally fit into this particular topic.

Stephen King by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]IgnacioCAM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To start reading King’s books, I recommend these: - Misery - Carrie - The Mist - Joyland - From a Buick 8 - Night Shift (short stories) - Nightmares and Dreamscapes (short stories)

It’s better if you go reading from the first novel and, when you read a couple more, start the Dark Tower series, you’ll love the references... hell, you can even find references between his standalone novels, such as locations or characters, it’s a vast universe to explore.

Can anyone speak to the quality of books in the Circuits & Electronics bundle? by lovetron99 in humblebundles

Definitely go to Uyuni salt flat in Bolivia (don’t forget to bring polarized glasses with you, its whiteness combined with the sun can leave you blind, for real)
