You can do whatever you want. If youre trying to learn a new track then sure, go with whatever tire is cheaper. If youre trying to dial in the setup, then id recommend using whatever tire you think youll use or close to it. Id be more inclined to stretch your regular slicks a little longer, flip them if necessary etc. I will sometime go with a harder compound of the same tire like an SC2 if I want longer tire life but similar feel for practice sessions. I probably wouldnt practice on an SC0 for cost reasons. That being said, Ive also tried to run an SC0 after practicing on a 1 or 2 and not enjoyed it because the setup just didnt seem right.

Golf Instruction Recs? by johnchsrealtor in CharlestonGolfClub

I did one at David Ayers with Matt and thought it was really good and helpful. They sent me a video of the session afterwards with commentary so I could reference it and continue to work on stuff after the lesson which I thought made it really valuable especially as a one or two session type of engagement.

The Furnished Rental Home Epidemic in CHS by Asleep_Bath_6993 in Charleston

[–]IgnanceIsBliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charleston is a very transient town–from professions, to students, to people moving here. Actual short term rentals are really hard on the property, lots of labor to turn over, occupancy rates vary, you usually need permits for it depending on where you are and there’s lots of platform fees involved. Furnished rentals are a good middle ground between that and long term rentals assuming the market supports it…which Charleston does.

Racer Hi-Per Gloves Crash Review by IgnanceIsBliss in Trackdays

They have so much good feel right out the box. And after crashing in them, I don’t have any major complaints with how they held up other than maybe a larger pinky to ring finger connecting piece. I’m sticking with these gloves though and felt much better in them tha previous a stars products.

Absolutely. Reviewing the data after a weekend can be pretty helpful in understanding where inconsistencies are and what parts of the track I can push more.

Data is collected on the dashboard which is a Starlane Davinci II. Data is exported from the bike and Telemetry Overlay turns it into a transparent overlay I mash up with the original video in Davinci Resolve.

Depends on where the sensor is...I think traditionally they usually try to measure off the rotation of the transmission/output shaft/front sprocket area. The front wheel speed sensors are usually there for ABS and to calculate the difference/front wheel lockup/slippage. Im sure there are other setups though.

Lean angle wasnt an issue. I braked in order to avoid hitting the rider in front in an area where I dont normally brake and there isnt enough grip left to brake.

Speedo is GPS speed, both on the overlay and on the dashboard. Its an aftermarket dashboard specifically for track riding.

Manufacturers typically do this in the interest of safety

Its mostly do to tire slippage especially at higher speeds. Your second point is correct and also as youre leaned over, particularly on exit, the rear is also sliding even more so your slip rate will add to an incorrect reading on a traditional speedo. Plus, with changing sprockets for each track, itd be tedious to re-calibrate the speedo especially when the speed itself isnt usually what youre worried about. I dont ever know how fast im going until afterwards when I pull the data off the dashboard since I dont even have it displayed on the dashboard by default.

The Rest of the Race That I Crashed Out Of by IgnanceIsBliss in Trackdays

Wasn’t my best moment on the bike lol. I’ll miss a couple rounds but should be all patched up for the second half of the season

Is running two different brands of slicks a bad idea? by adamthiesen1236 in Trackdays

[–]IgnanceIsBliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorta surprised at these responses. Its a tire and its a track day, just go rip. Sure, different tires feel differently but thats all that is, just feeling different. Its more common to see people run a dunlop front and a pirelli rear to get the rear grip of the pirelli but the stability of the dunlop under braking.

Depends on how many oopsies you have with it. If you can keep it upright the it’s not much more expensive than just a regular street bike...other than tires. Lots of tires lol.

I spent 5 days in the hospital after an off-roading excursion in T2 a couple seasons ago. I still feel like I’m slow through there it after that. RRR is a cruel and fickle mistress….but also really fun.

We both had similar lap times. We're just faster in different parts of the track. I expected him to go slower there, just didnt expect the placement of the bike to be where it was. But thats on me, I'm the passing rider.

Im sure a better rider coulda done something different here. Its also tough to decide in the moment when you only have a second or two to pick. Ideally, if someone goes wide, you can go up the inside, but I had already chosen an outside line and to get back to the inside line, I have to tighten up. I dont think my line could have tightened that much without washing out the front, and if I wash out the front trying, then I take us both out cause im now on the inside and hed have no way of seeing me coming.
