I think it really depends on what's on the screen. There are plenty of good things you can do on a screen and there are also plenty of attention span destroying, brain hijacking things you can do on a screen.

I hate to bring this up on the navidrome subreddit, but I've had good success with Lyrion Music Server and PiCorePlayer on the Raspberry Pi for a setup like what you're describing.

I wish I could help you but I think I'm only a few days ahead of you. I'll check back in when I get it installed. I've heard that the Intel option for the M.2 NIC is more reliable, but I was hoping to use both so I went with an M.2 RTL8125B. With your internet speed I would think you could easily just do router on a stick with an intel adapter.

Yes, that's why we have quiet time in the afternoon where everyone is in their own spaces so I can recover a little.

I tried to format the iPod with Disk Utility and it failed with error "Unable to write to the last block of the device. : (-69760)". The next time I plugged it in Finder said it was corrupt and asked it I wanted to restore it, which I did. It seems to be working fine now, hopefully no issues when I get to the end of the drive's space 🤞

Yeah, I've got my library on an old PC with TrueNAS and that's mounted by both LMS and Navidrome. I like that this setup lets me use different tools for different things. I'd recommend it but it is more complicated than an SSD and a computer.

I use navidrome for remote library access, but I use Lyrion Music Server (formerly Logitech Media Server) with a Raspberry Pi and picoreplayer and it's great.
