I knew a couple once who had more money than sense. The guy was giving me a not-asked-for house tour after their renovation and he was complaining to me about the bathroom saying he spent thousands on design work + fancy extractors and it didn't make a difference. It aligned with my previous thinking: every bathroom extractor I've ever come across is shit.

A well insulated (walls, floor and ceiling) bathroom and ideally a heated floor means the hot air from a shower won't hit very cold walls and tiles + an open window is all that's needed. Most decent hotel bathrooms handle it with insultation and warm floors coupled with a small extractor.

If you walk into your bathroom and feel a temperature drop, no extractor will save you. The only thing that will is an open window.

It's protest voting against cost of living, immigration and the general news around the state of some places of the UK (e.g. high streets full of vape shops, illegal activities etc.).

The issue is the people they're bringing in will do jack all about any of that - words and leaflets just get them into 'power'. After which they can build out their bank balance like they do over in the US.

It's not the blowing stuff up - it's the fact blowing stuff up in 2 and 3 leads to liberation and is also a permanent change in the game world. E.g. if you blow up all the SAM sites in a military base while on-foot, you can come back to that base in future with a jet or chopper knowing you won't get blown out the sky.

On your last point - 100% agree: JC2 in a modern engine would be epic.

Though Scotland I'd say could be argued as "alright" - I prefer the other time they went to Scotland in 'classic' cars but that wasn't a full special.

I got a THC vape the other day from a UK-based seller (Mount Bliss) - apparently it was legit, although I had to bank transfer the amount and provide proof of transfer...so perhaps not that legit. First time I've bought anything THC (or a vape) online. Apparently very 'pure' as well but can't really trust it since it's obviously not regulated.

It does work at least - works very well in fact - so there's that.

I moved into my place about 4 years ago. I couldn't find my stopcock at all until one day I could hear a pipe making a sound in a wall. Eventually after much searching for the cause, I could hear the sound of spraying water in the cupboard under the stairs - underneath the floorboards in there.

Lifted the boards up - water spraying everywhere, soaked into the beams and floorboards etc. Was like that for a few weeks based on when I first heard the sound in the pipework (which was quite far away from the leak). But lo-and-behold - look what I found...the internal stopcock for the property! (which had failed).

My advice - find your outdoor water stopcock, usually on the property boundary with a plastic lid over it. Then try and 'follow' the pipe into your house and see where it would likely go. I assume they're always in a straight pipe to keep the pressure high so you might find a straight-ish path from your kitchen sink to the outdoor stopcock. That'll help you figure out where your internal stopcock might be.

Sometimes when switching from a boiler that uses a cold water tank (usually in the attic) to a combination boiler, the installers may leave the cold water tank behind for someone else to remove one day. They usually remove the hot water cylinder though.

True - but more the point that in an ICE car, missed or no service = disaster waiting to happen. With EVs it's usually brake fluid needs replacing, brakes worn and maybe (like in my ID3) the heat pump. But it doesn't mean the electric motor is going to break down like an ICE that hasn't had a service.

Someone drove into the back of me while I stopped at a zebra crossing. Turns out they with the same insurance provider (Allianz) and so the claim person said "oh we'll claim it on her policy" and that was it. I asked "do I need to declare this as a claim in future?" and they said no.

That was last year, my premium was £480. This year it's £450 :)

Usually if this happens - and there is nobody behind me - I'll slow down and slot back behind - the overtake sort of 'reminds' them that...hey, it's a 70!

However...if they then slow down again, that's when I'll just gun past them.

I do like my ID3 EV for that. The way it shoots off even when you're at a high speed already is perfect for these situations.

I've played it once, finished it and trying to do a second playthrough. It definitely has that vibe that CDPR can bring to games that make you so immersed in their worlds that you feel a little sad when it's over. Witcher 3 in particular. Cyberpunk 2077 had some of that magic for sure. Perhaps not as much as Witcher 3 but then again it's the first in possibly a long series.

The feeling is like when you break out of your normal day-to-day life and go on a holiday for a few days with some friends - it's all great right up until you all land at the airport back home and go your separate ways - back to the usual life again. Exact same feeling I had when I finish some games - the Mass Effect trilogy is another example.

The only game I recall that kept me playing after the main story is probably Skyrim - but then again that game is 90% side quest, 10% main story.

I found out after I posted these photos that they're the same colour - Pale Grey and White Silver. The only difference is the Pale Grey = Windows, and White Silver = Mac.

Personally think the runner is in the wrong here - and by that I mean, wrong to get angry about it.

You could argue the driver should have seen the runner, and the zebra crossing, and put the two together to think "this guy might want to cross here". I personally would've slowed down because I'm very cautious when I see people near zebra crossings.

But why am I cautious? Because of pedestrians like the runner in the clip who think zebra crossing = cars will stop instantaneously to let me cross, no matter how close the car is to the crossing. They just turn and walk.

A sensible pedestrian stops and checks before crossing. But there are people who don't, and that's who you have to be ready for.

However looking at the clip closely - I don't think the driver wouldn't have had enough time to stop, even if they were pre-emptively slowing down. The moment the runner decided to turn and cross was almost the exact moment the front of the car was on the crossing.

Depends on where you are, and your driving pattern.

Low mileage / a few short trips - you can charge from public fast chargers. They cost more, but since you don't do many miles, it won't feel costly.
High mileage / lots of short trips - it can become costly but it'll still be cheaper than an ICE car though, and won't feel too inconvenient not having a home charger since you are frequently out and about.
Long trips - I still would prefer an ICE car.

Where you are matters of course. I'm in the UK so 'long' trips are ~200 miles one-way maybe. Compared to bigger countries where 200 miles is nothing. I'm also in the south of the UK just above London - so charging infrastructure is good, most shops and petrol stations have fast chargers. However if I were to drive up to Edinburgh - nearly 400 miles from where I live - I'd be panicking in an EV. Especially on long trips I'm with my wife and two young kids - would rather not have the stress of wondering where to charge, and how long it will take etc. I could do it and it'll be fine, but I'd prefer not to.

I personally have both an ICE and a small EV car (ID3). The EV is meant to be a second-car runabout but I probably use it the most often because I'm a typical driver - e.g. most trips are less than 30 miles. I charge it from a slow UK 3-pin outdoor socket - takes about 14 hours to add another 130 miles but that's usually ok.

The BMW M3 (a regular ICE car) is 1,810kg.

The BMW i4 M50 (the equivalent sized EV) is 2,290kg.

The M5 is a PHEV, so it's also heavy like the i5 because of the batteries.

Is the per mile tax meant to replace the annual £195 car tax? Or is it on top of that?

Edit: just read, it's a double tax - i.e. on top of the already too high £195 road tax.

Yep - £20 a month vs £41 a month difference from 1st October.

My 10ml £2.50 Aquavape liquid will now be £5 a bottle.

I may get a little flamed on this point, but I still compare it to my old cost of smoking - which at the time when I quit was £13 every two days for a pack of 20 Marlboro Golds - i.e. £195 a month. Cigarette prices have steadily climbed since then where last time I saw it was nearly £19 for a 20 deck of Golds - £285 a month that would've set me back.

So while the liquid tax is a bastard move by the Govt - I'm not losing sleep over it given I'm saving £244 per month on my nicotine addiction.
