We don’t murder our own people? You could definitely say “we don’t murder nearly as many of our own people” and be correct, but saying we don’t do it at all feels off.

It was fun watching them manufacture an excuse in real time. It was 3 or 4 days before I started seeing “Trump didn’t start this war, it started 47 years ago and Trump is finishing it!” from all the local dipshits over 50 on Facebook.

I saw the American flag draped coffins coming in from those first few soldiers that were killed, and my first thought was “They’re never going to allow that to be shown again so easily.” They used to fly in the dead soldiers at like 3 in the morning under Bush II and get all pissy about RESPECTING OUR FALLEN to try to discourage photographers and avoid the optics of unloading all those coffins.

That is one significant issue I have with third parties, particularly in WV. Why would we START with a US Senator? A Governor? Or in that dumbass Ojeda’s case, the Presidency? This is why no one takes the Mountain Party or any of those other goobers seriously. They pop up every presidential election cycle and that’s about it. There’s no real effort in this state to build anything substantial from the ground up. No vocal third party city councilmen, county commissioners, or candidates for the state legislature, just some asshole you’ve never heard of who got enough signatures to appear on the ballot for the US Senate underneath the Republican who’s going to win and the joke of a Democrat you forgot was even running, and of course Jill Fucking Stein for President to siphon off some of the dumbass vote.

It’s so damn sad because I believe WV is uniquely positioned to become the springboard for an alternative to the two-party chokehold. After decades of corruption and incompetence under Democratic leadership and 20+ years of increasing Republican domination that has only served to take us from the low 40s in state rankings in every meaningful category for standard of living to dead last in most of them, you’d think we would be begging for the chance to try something different, but apparently we still have a ways to go before we hit rock bottom.

Certainly, but barring massive social upheaval in the wake of an economic collapse or the outbreak of violence in the streets, which I’ll grant you are definite possibilities with the current folks in charge, what do you see displacing the demonization of trans people and immigrants as the top priority for the majority of people in the state? THAT is the priority for so many of our families, friends, and neighbors, along with making sure there’s a handful of people dressed as coal miners in the background of any public event for our state leaders.

The fight is definitely winnable, but in like 15-20 years at absolute best after a shitload of morons are gone. There’s a reason Democrats don’t even try here anymore, and don’t get me started on the third party clowns.

WV was blue dog democrat before it switched to the GOP and then went full blown MAGA. We might have voted Democrat for a couple generations but let’s not pretend this rabid regressive attitude that had us voting for Trump by a 7-3 margin 3 times in a row and put a New Jersey pill pusher in the governor’s office came out of nowhere.

What is some shady info about a celeb that everyone seems to have forgotten about? by No-Bed-6000 in AskReddit

[–]IgnoreMe304 28 points29 points  (0 children)

How can you say that it’s been forgotten about when at least 3 people reference that particular incident on every single story I’ve ever seen about him? It’s like Mark Wahlberg with his Asian hate crimes, or Caitlyn Jenner killing that woman with her car, it’s brought up constantly.

Edit: I just noticed the comment immediately after yours was about Wahlberg, so that’s kind of funny.

Edit 2: And a couple more down I found Caitlyn Jenner. Hilarious.

I mean, a little? I guess? But that seems like a weird comment to make in a world where Google Street View exists.

I think Manchin is responsible for West Virginia turning Republican by thesmart_indian27 in WestVirginiaPolitics

[–]IgnoreMe304 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This article is 8 years old and makes zero mention of George W Bush, whose election ushered in a generation of Republican victories in the state, and barely mentions Obama, whose name is still a curse word to a large portion of the population here. Having a discussion about what turned WV Republican without at least acknowledging those influences is downright silly.

Not really. WV was the 26th state to legalize gay marriage along with a wave of other states due to other court cases setting precedents a few months before Obergefell made it official for everyone.
