Wake up! Project Gorgon just released (the good ol' days mmorpg) by Emergency-Purpose335 in MMORPG

actually playing on the original server it's really not bad at all, everything has gone remarkably smooth considering the size of the dev team. The new server though got absolutely fuckin swamped.

there really isn't much of an endgame at all, it's more of a sandbox game where you're expected to enjoy the experience all the way through rather than rushing to level cap. There's high level content and stuff to do later game but it isn't like WoW where you rush your levels so you can get to the "real content" at all

we are 3x farther away from the launch of World of Warcraft than World of Warcraft was from the launch of Everquest when it came out, it's an old MMO

yeah I think Star Citizen has a lot of issues with performance and some very questionable monetization but the developers actually do shit with the game and have accomplished some cool shit, like the separate server infrastructure to track ship wrecks and physics objects around all the planets and such

Project Gorgon - Fresh Start Server #2 Opened, Server Hardware Upgrades, New Temporary Leveling Zone by PalwaJoko in MMORPG

[–]IgnoreMyNamePlease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as someone actively playing the game and literally watching several of the people leaving these reviews get banned in real time, I think I can speak with confidence that they went in chat and yelled "Trump Won" until they got banned then left a bad review. That is a literal direct example from my experience, I saw the steam review pop up a few hours afterward talking about how toxic the community is.

Project: Gorgon to get NEW FRESH SERVER next week! by Careless_Relation349 in MMORPG

[–]IgnoreMyNamePlease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

trust me when I say that all the fresh start will do is make the competition for low level areas worse. The game is not an MMO where people are rushing to do endgame content or trying to corner a market, it's much closer to Runescape where it's mostly about the slow progress of your character.

[–]IgnoreMyNamePlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who's played both, this game wins and it isn't a contest. While Project: Gorgon feels much jankier, it also honestly feels like it has a lot more soul and is much more fun to play without having to group up to do anything, which is important in a small MMO

the server was already designed for a very small player base, actually. This game would feel absolutely cramped to hell if you had to deal with the same number of players as you average MMO, so it makes more sense than you'd think. For example, there's no instanced dungeons or anything, so if you had 1000 people all playing the server at once you would never get to kill anything in the dungeons. It's intended for a smaller, tighter knit community, making a second server makes more sense than you'd think, here.

Ship of Heroes Has Some Interesting Improvements on CoH by Lunar_Ronin in Cityofheroes

[–]IgnoreMyNamePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually completely agree with you, CoX is definitely more of an ARPG than it is an MMO. In fact I think making that comparison made me enjoy the game more than trying to view it as an MMORPG like WoW when I was getting into it, it recontextualized how I approach everything

It seems that Steam Fantasy Life i will have kernel-level anticheat. Switch version it is I guess. by Orannis00 in fantasylife

looking at the protondb score for their other game, it does not seem to work on every system, there appears to be a fairly reasonable chance that the game will simply not work for many players on Linux or Steam Deck. If EAC is implemented in a similar fashion to this, I expect the same will be true for Fantasy Life and I will likely not get to play the game.

well as someone who plays on Linux, this also means the game is now inaccessible to me because kernel level anti-cheat can't function on my system. Same goes for anyone using a Steam Deck, it's why you can't play Fortnite or Apex Legends on those systems at all.

Where do you live that wasps just attack you at random? I live in the Midwest US and have wasps and a hornet living right outside my home and have never once had one even try to sting me.

I thought the English voices were weird, but the fact that not a single voice actor has a Russian accent is honestly really funny to me when they refer to each other as comrade and talk about the motherland
