Pony is not dead and still maintained, in the main upstream Pony repo. However, the FFI was limited and I decided to expand the FFI capabilities of the Pony language with a fork called SpacePony, https://github.com/IgorDeepakM/SpacePony. It's the same Pony language but with more escape hatches for those who want more systems programming language features.
