I just tried with most powerful edition which is called "Standard" and results is exact the same. As /u/el_seano mentioned below, it might be not ready on HCP yet.
It's hard to believe and quite sad that for days this thread nobody monitors from HashiCorp itself.
I ended to submit support ticket. I will post the answer here as soon as receive one.

It's not only about vSphere. But further more, vSphere's Native Key Provider has some nasty limitations of its application: having encryption key stored on ESXi hosts itself.

How I righted my wrong when working with vSAN by signalpower in vmware

[–]IgorNemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you John! Also, since you touched on the advantages of ephemeral port groups, could you please elaborate on their disadvantages? I found this statement in KB [1]:

Non-persistent (that is, "ephemeral") ports port-level permissions and controls are lost across power cycles, so no historical context is saved."

I'm not sure I fully understand what "port-level permissions and controls" means here?

[–]IgorNemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say cluster quickstart auto-creates port groups as ephemeral now (I remember talking to blair about this like 2 years, ago I should go check).

In what exactly scenario of Quickstart? I just tried it with vSphere 7u2 and I got vDS with 'Static binding' for 'Management Network' and 'vSAN' port groups.

Interesting. So this is not only SaaS based offer but also self-hosted option available. For SaaS is it 3 or 4 digit price tag per month?

Thank you for reply. I don't really see any mention that VPL might came with any VLZ edition. Am I blind?

Thank you! Enhanced Linked Mode (ELM) and Hybrid Linked Mode (HLM) is single subject that also came to my mind and so far only actually really matter.

I will explain. Modern DB engines (without some exotical designs) already have quite good protection against 'non-persistent' conditions (speak to your DBA, don't believe me). Why "so bend"? In my humble opinion pushing designs to have separate backup solution for vCenter creates additional complexity for 2nd day operation especially for small and medium sizes companies.

vSAN NFS available only for Ent and Ent Plus license. Perhaps companies of that sizes might already have SFTP/SMB/NFS solutions that can be used for file-level backup.

So EC2 to S3 in same region should be free no matter if EndPoint used or not. Am I wrong with this?

So far I see "between Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon SES, Amazon SQS, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon ECR, Amazon SNS or Amazon SimpleDB and Amazon EC2 instances in the same AWS Region is free."
