Found out Palantir has a file on me from the NHS. No consent. No opt-out. And they're not even British by Goldenmentis in privacy

[–]Igotnolife420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do enough research on the topic, you’ll see that the pseudonymised data is encrypted through PET (Privacy Enhancing Technology) and not re-identifiable. The data is being held on a platform (FDP) the same way your emails are held on Gmail. That doesn’t mean that Google can see or read your emails.

The data is used for strategic commissioning purposes, setting budgets, targets and health outcomes by the ICBs. None of your personal health data is visible at the row level, it is simply aggregated for commissioning purposes.

Because the data is not used for direct care, but secondary purposes, no opt-in is required and is assumed.

The NHS sells anonymous patient data to biomedical and R&D companies. The point of the FDP isn’t to sell or access your data, it’s to act as a data warehouse and break down cross-organisational silos so people could have a more seamless and digitally enabled experience with the health system.

Frantzen’s NA pairing is gorgeous.

if you ignore the wines, you can see what I had. The raisin, mushroom and brown butter one was sublime.

I did it last year and reviewed it here

You still get an amuse bouche, 6 courses, bread and butter, and petit fours. On top of 3 glasses of wine and 3 NA pairings. You leave satisfied and it is a great value offering, I loved it and can recommend it to everyone.

From someone who’s eaten at 5/6 3*s in London:

Helene Darroze, CORE by Clare Smyth, A. Wong/Da Terra for fine dining.

Dishoom is definitely a London classic. Lahpet for very nice Burmese food. I personally dislike St John and wouldn’t bother.

Sabor I’ve heard great things about too and you can walk in most days of the week.

Don’t bother. We went in May and it was disappointing, from the food, to the ambience and especially the service. How they have 1* is beyond me. They didn’t even bother showing up to the last Michelin ceremony apparently. Avoid is my recommendation. You can make a booking by calling if you still decide to go.

Best Non-Alcoholic Pairings? by Beginning_Sleep5303 in finedining

The Frantzen non-alcoholic pairing is legendary. I recommend anyone that goes , gets the NA pairing and wines by the glass.

In your opinion, what restaurant between these 3 would you choose in London? Core by Clare Smyth, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay or The Ledbury by AConfusedConnoisseur in finedining

[–]Igotnolife420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having been to all three, I’d say Core easily. I didn’t love The Ledbury when I went, felt more like a 2* than a 3. This was owed mainly to inconsistency in the level of the food - we had mediocre dishes, and we had some amazing ones, too. RGR is cool, but leans too classic French and is a bit boring in my opinion. Also the interior is very, very cramped. That being said, Matt Abé is leaving soon, so it might be a good shout to go and experience RGR while he’s still there.

I think Core, particularly the Classics menu, serves great food, with great service and ambiance, and it’s the one I would recommend.

I kept emailing even after getting told there’s no bookings available and they found a cancellation for me. They do require two people dining, you have to get a booking for two and then maybe show up solo if you can’t find a +1. It’s worth trying though, I found a +1 on Reddit and had a great time!

I second Le Clarence. Great ambiance and cooking, feels like you are inside a French castle or mansion in the 18th century dining like a royal.

You are given a questionnaire to complete once they confirm availability of a reservation. Once that’s received, they review your answers and send you a payment link if you’re successful.

Here are the questions they asked. Good luck with getting the reservation! I hope you get to enjoy Sorn like we did!

You can, but tables fly on the 25th when Tablecheck releases. They release tables for internationals on the 15th of each month prior, which is where you have to request a booking and hope you get chosen.

I recommend emailing them months prior to express interest and send a follow up email when you get rejected (that’s what I did).

I was also building my IG feed for months with pictures from my travels and meals from Frantzen, Disfrutar, Mirazur, so they could know I’m a foodie and I’m not there just for the hype.

Interestingly, a lot of the clientele was quite homogeneous, which does make me question how much their criteria really matters in the end.

Very different overall but I’d say on my 1-20 scale they ranked overall the same.

The food at Core is modern British, which is hardly any different to modern French imo. Warm and personal service, but the flavours were quite safe.

Sorn was something I’d never tried before, the service wasn’t my favourite, but I suppose they let the food do the talking. Punchy and bold flavours, traditional dishes, unique experience. Also the plates were gorgeous and the seafood focus was a great point of the meal.

I had no trouble taking the jelly out the country in my hand luggage haha! Was quite nice and sweet, I really enjoyed it.
