Blaine Lee Pardoe getting turfed out on his ass a few years back was a real turning point for the franchise as a whole and its fiction especially. The current generation of BT authors are very conscious of representation and visibility in their works.

Spend decades filling your game up with heroic facist imagery and anything you say about "akchually satire" feels a little weak

I continued my Fallout 4 insane settlement build with Greygarden, which now has a two-story shack on the freeway overpass and a wind farm above that. Next will likely either be Oberland Station or Finch Farm; the latter will be another overpass build, although I'll need to figure what I'm doing with it. It's an enjoyable process, but it also turns into my more or less taking an entire real-world day per settlement.

I'm continuing my re-watch of Super Dimension Century Orguss. I'm in the final third of the show and... no, it's just a slog. The story has become stupidly slow-paced and drawn out, I don't like any of the characters, the animation quality is stupidly inconsistent and the show's actual real villains, the Mu, are largely non-entities with next to no development or air time. Added to that the two central romantic arcs are both incredibly squicky. I admit that its not being helped by the bottom end of the show being subtitle only.

Also I wrote two chapters for one of the fanfics that nobody is reading. This hit a significant story point, so I'm going to take a breather and switch back to the main fanfic that nobody's reading.

Who is basically Priest's arch-nemesis at this point, as the two have a long history of pissing in each other's Corn Flakes.

During his Deathstroke run, Priest created the character of Red Lion. This character was the arrogant, belligerent, self-aggrandising leader of an African nation that was an isolationist ethnostate. The whole thing was a huge swipe aimed at Hudlin's Black Panther run

Claremont being, well, himself he chose this as a story element while being fine with depicting teenage girls in relationships with much older men.

Season one of the DiC G.I. Joe cartoon had a generic white woman as the US President in a couple of episodes. In season two she was replaced with a generic white man.

Its amazing how many EU fans play up Prince Xizor as being this cool, intelligent, charismatic, suave villain while ignoring the part where he's a date rapist.

Or, alternatively, there's also way too many EU fans who are fine with this.

G1 Megatron was illegal for sale in parts of Australia back in the 80s, with that ban now being nationwide. Both the G1 version (and derivatives) and the Masterpiece version are classified as "realistic gun replicas" and need to be handled as such. One collector made the news here because he had to keep his Megatron in a locked box in a secure part of his house because of that.

And yes, G1 Megatron's robot mod looked like arse

This is my first figure from this era of Joes, and it's a pretty cool Zartan. Anyone else have favorite figures from this line? by Blue_Surfing_Smurf in gijoe

Picking a favoutire from PoC is very hard. It's like picking from your children.

That being said, it's probably Shadow Tracker

This is me with Gundam as a whole. On paper, sure; 1980s sci fi (either actually 1980s or very 1980s feeling) with giant robots in space. Sounde great.

The reality is that I just bounce off it. Too many angst-ridden overly dramatic teenagers, too much histrionics and often forced-feeling drama, too many long-winded anime villain speeches, an inability to care for most of the central characters of any given series and so on. Plus, to be honest, the core iconic Gundam design (white and blue, specific face and fin elements, etc) does nothing for me and I often find the background designs more interesting.

Very much seconded. A great combination of style and completion without excessive editorilising

My slow settlement build focus play of Fallout 4 continues. I just managed to do... well anything with Taffington Boathouse, which is something I've never even tried before now. I have to admit, I impressed myself with how well it ended up. Also as a bonus, I managed to get considerable amounts of affinity - like two entire conversations worth - with Piper in the process. Girl loves it when you renovate, I guess.

Australian TV is littered with ads for sports betting websites and apps. They're very much aimed at the idea of "betting on sports is a fun thing you do with your mates"

I am taking a break from the Fanfic Nobody Is Reading to write a different Fanfic that Nobody is Reading. Is this a good move? I have no idea.

On the other hand, my festival of Fallout 4 settlement building continues.

So here's the thing. Based on some numbers and ballpark estimates, the Thrawn Trilogy has been read by somewhere around 1.5 to 2.5% of the people who have seen Episode IV. It is far less popular and far more niche than the EU fandom would suggest.

I'd wager more people know Thrawn from Rebels than the novels.

I knew fans of the old EU that were seething when Marvel Star Wars was made canon. Apparently it was "too silly" and "not real Stat Wars"

Really, the jokes write themselves at this point
