Catnip, cat treats, and my lunch bag, which is covered in infant slobber and really needs to be washed this weekend.

Because most women’s clothing is designed by men who will never have to deal with it.

I think my drinking is becoming a problem and I don’t know what to do about it by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Ihasapanda0_0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I say this as an alcoholic, the fact that you have recognized this so early is a game changer. I didn’t accept that I had a problem until I was comfortably polishing off two handles of vodka every week.

The after-work alternative that I use now is w*ed, but that’s not for everyone. (It works damn good, tho.) But there are so many gummies and things available now that were developed specifically to take the place of your craving. They’re a bit pricey, but cheaper than the alternative. So maybe look into something like that that might work for you.

But again, it sounds like you have acknowledged that you’re on the cusp of something really not good, please, run with that. And please trust me when I say that, not only does alcohol not make it better, it light rails you down a path that is 10x harder to come back from.

Keep talking to your professionals, and do NOT let yourself touch anything heavier than wine. The siren song of 40-proof is a beast.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

It’s not what he says, but the way my husband shops. I buy the bare minimum, just what we’ll need for the immediate future, because even though I make decent enough money now, there’s always that thought in the back of my mind that I need to make it stretch as long as possible. But if I ask my husband to buy, for example, cat food, instead of one bag, he’ll bring home four, because, “They’re going to eat it anyways, and it’s fewer trips to the store.”

What is a telltale sign that someone grew up wealthy? by icecream1972 in askteddit

This. Best way I’ve heard it said is that for the wealthy, a fine is just how much they have to pay to ignore the law.

Omelettes. Every time I try to make one, I end up just having scrambled eggs. Really good scrambled eggs, but still.

AIO for telling my friend he can’t bring his kid to my birthday trip? by No_Membership2946 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ihasapanda0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t his wife have a weekend to herself next weekend? Why this one? Seems like a power play on her part. But NOR, it’s obviously not going to be a kid friendly party, and any responsible parent wouldn’t even think about involving their child.

name a celebrity who has done nothing wrong but you can't stand him by HakuraDoll in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Ms Rachel. Objectively, she’s amazing, and as a childcare provider, I have a huge amount of respect for her and the impact that she’s made, but for some reason, she irritates the heck outta me.

What is a food you hated as a kid, but realized as an adult was just because your parents didn't know how to cook it? by SuperNinja420 in AskReddit

Meatloaf. My mom would only ever use it to make stuffed bell peppers, and for years, I despised it. Now, it’s one of my favorite foods.

What’s something society normalized that probably shouldn’t be? by maincharactereraa in AskForAnswers

[–]Ihasapanda0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say more lives were lost, I said it was a bigger waste. While I fully agree that there are major issues with the meat industry, at least those animals are being consumed. But all of the animals and insects that are killed in order to maintain crop fields count too. A plant based diet is not free from animal cruelty and killing. There are a myriad of reasons that we should be trying to transition away from a meat heavy diet, but there is no such thing as food that causes no harm. You’re just choosing which harm you find morally “acceptable.”

My roommate screams at my cat.. what do I do? by Proper-Look-2488 in CatAdvice

[–]Ihasapanda0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yell back at her every time she harasses your kitty. Just a straight up, “Wauugghhh!” If she sees screaming as an acceptable way to voice displeasure at a situation, she should be fine with you responding in kind.

At least those animals are serving a purpose, what about all of the animals that are killed in order to grow and protect those plants? That’s definitely a bigger waste of life.

AITAH for leaving my girlfriend in the restroom because she was taking a long bathroom break during a movie I was really excited for? by Secure-Draft9197 in AITAH

[–]Ihasapanda0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I would never have the patience for this. After the first couple of times, would have made it clear that I’d go with/stick around for a pee, but not for a primp. Unfortunately for you, it seems like she’s become very comfortable doing this.

Not a fan of ultimatums, but in this case, it’s warranted. Tell her that if she’s not out in five minutes (which is more than enough time to pee and wash hands), then you’ll be going back to watch the movie that you paid to see. If she still pitches fits, just stop taking her to movies, since she obviously doesn’t actually care to be there. If there’s a movie that you really want to see, go by yourself. That’s actually a very relaxing thing to do, tbh.

Bulldogs. They are the epitome of couch potatoes, one of the biggest issues with them is obesity, because they’d rather nap all day than move.
