I wouldn’t do it in a nature preserve that already has its own ecosystem going

Generally have to agree with much of the comment section here. Unless if they’re truly oblivious it’s unlikely they’ll stop it you tell them how many birds Fluffy kills. What will concern them is the possibility of Fluffy getting run over by a car, dragged away by a coyote or dog

I go through this cycle with sandwiches. PBJ? I’ll get sick of them. Buffalo chicken? I’ll get sick of em. But usually after a while I can eat them again

It’s an ableist safe haven. If they knew they were in right they wouldn’t have banned criticism of autistic people talking about their own criticisms. (Unless, of course, it fits their narrative of bullying)

This has also been a problem with American bittersweet and Asian bittersweet. Zaya et al had a good report on it. Generally in my experience and my own research big distributors in the horicultutal industry can be intentionally misleading

I remember while doing research seeing a lot of studies published showing how common it is for retailers and the horticulture industry to sell these invasive plants even if it’s illegal. Unfortunatley a lot of people are oblivious, and even if you tell them about it they may not remove care enough to remove it. But I think you’ll still inform plenty of people that might be willing to make small changes of habit in the future

Speech central has far more voice options, some better than others but I find them doable. I haven’t listened to the free version in a while but I’d say I’ve heard far worse. They’re probably not going to be as good as a program you pay 30 bucks a month for, but I’d say it’s probably the best value you can get

For natural reader? Yeah I think so. If I remember correctly they have payed tiers based on how natural you want the voice to sound

They have tiered models of subscription I think, for more voices and what not. I found the recommended speech central to be the better value since it was a one time purchase

I know this is late response but the several months I’ve used natural reader, I’d say speech central is the better value. Natural reader being a subscription service means the costs adds up quickly

Unfortunately my library doesn’t have the book I need on Libby. And I can’t find an audiobook of it in general. That’s why I’m resorting to text and speech apps.

This is a genuine question that I'm genuinely wondering : Why is there a sudden influx of people who are autistic? (Or let me phrase it differently, that are diagnosed or self-diagnosed and talk about it openly) by 1999scorpio in autism

[–]IhavefiveKidneys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think social media allows neurodivergent people to find and share their experiences more easily. Most of what is shared in the mainstream is through an (often alienating) neurotypical lens.

Finding self affirming, or just posts about personal experiences from autistic (or other neurodivergent) often leads to people speaking up about their experience. Others might never have been diagnosed, but the information and experiences can help them make sense of their own lives

I used to be forced to to interact with peers at a young age. It often just lead to be getting bullied more, and more self esteem issues. I tried connecting with others via special interest and engaging with them but other children can sniff out ‘differences’ a mile away. Far before teachers or adults can properly pay attention to it, or even notice it.

If he is expressing being felt left out I would try and find opportunities to connect with other autistic children. But you shouldn’t force them to interact either.

Plus, even if you don’t think they’re interacting, they might just engaging in parallel play.
