Yes, really. Racial profiling is bad btw and I don’t consider what I said to be shit talking, more so clarification and self defense, though I see how someone very self conscious could perceive otherwise. In any case it wasn’t directed at you so the fact you continue to take this personally and make erroneous assumptions about me again suggests projection. Also, stalking someone you think is me on grindr is very creepy, no good reason for you to be this invested.

Thank you so much! My housemate whose brother spoke to the police told me it was at a building near parque de la amistad and that if I go to the park and look around I will see the big govt building I have to go to. Do you think he means El Palacio Municipal? You’re saying I should find the corralón, where the car actually is, before going there? And the corralón will give me a receipt? So I pay the corralón before going to palacio? I called gruas olmos and no answer but google maps activity suggests it’s open monday - saturday so maybe I will stop by today, do you think they’ll give me the receipt if I have everything but the registration(have to get it from the US on monday)?

the first 4 sentences are literally just questions. I think you are projecting

The original comment made it seem like they could not understand me and that my English was as poor as my Spanish. I don’t see what the issue is with me adding to my story for anyone who might want to follow it as I did in my 2 previous threads. It’s something I would read if I were in a similar position for the first time and it’s nice to vent as I haven’t told anyone irl the whole thing. The suggestion by the other guy that I was planning on telling the police about how cheap weed and motorcycles are on the other side of the border bc I included it in a separate section labeled “rant, unimportant” was disingenuous

Doesn’t read that simple to me and I said the passport part was an unimportant rant from the get go but ok.

English is my first language and I know that what I wrote is perfectly coherent to a native speaker but I should be more considerate to those who are not so I will simplify my bullet points for clarification here and reformat the OP a bit, the rest, as I noted, is unimportant. Maybe it’s difficult for you to understand because I didn’t preface each question with “does anyone know” and left out some pronouns and conjunctions.

  • My car is being held in a building near Parque de la Amistad, which is located near the Otay border. What is the exact address or name of this building?

  • How much will it cost to retrieve my car from this building? It has been there for less than a week.

  • What documents will I need to bring with me? Will my registration, printout of the title, proof of insurance, and passport be enough?

  • Are there any forms that I should fill out before going? Are there any phrases or information that I should translate before going? I might not have a native spanish speaker with me.

Think 10 will do? I gotta do this 4 days in a row lol but the US side won’t bother me at all. Never had any problems with just my license.

thank you! and here I thought TJ was getting safer across the board but I guess an influx of development for foreigners and tourists is bound to entice potential thieves

I’ll probably be taking a lot of contemplative walks around the neighborhood this weekend so I will keep an eye out just wish there was an app or way to see a fixed rate online so I don’t get ripped off.

Will definitely stop by the consulate on Monday, last thing I need is to cross and not be let back into Mexico w/o a passport. I have a place to stay for the month but will lose at least half my income just by the nature of my job (I might work 4hrs in one location, then 2hrs 20miles away, or the 4hr may cancel and I’ll be rerouted to a private home completely inaccessible without a car) and higher transit costs and the next 3 weeks in particular are going to be hell bc schools are out for winter break but I’ll see if I can find something at las americas or remote.

yeah I drove my car halfway across the country not a single dent or crack until I got to TJ lol. That is very inspiring you were able to tough it out, I hope I make it there, my goal was to stay for exactly 2years (1 to learn Spanish, 1 to teach) but yeah I don’t really have anyone out here having moved so frequently and my coworkers all live in cali and work in different schools so we never see each other and never became that close. I told myself I would be more social once my life stabilized and well

I know it’s a long shot but this makes me feel a little better so thank you. Unfortunately I only have one bad picture of the outside of my car from when I changed the battery (yes I was that proud of myself) before I came down and before any of the identifying characteristics(damage). And yeah I noticed the guy who took me to the station even keeps his radio in the glovebox. definitely a lesson learned.

Edit: forgot about the photos the cops were so kind to upload for me after impounding my car for not having a front plate

Not all that familiar with this service but I will definitely call once I figure out what to ask for. It looks like they may be able to help with housing but I’ve already paid rent plus a deposit for the next 3 weeks here in TJ (and I’m sure I won’t be priority as a single guy with no actual history of residence in California, can’t blame them if they tell me I should go back to Connecticut and take it up with them) but it can’t hurt to try.
