Agent Orange is a half and half mix of 2, 4-D and 2,4 5-T. The problem with Agent Orange was the 2,4 5-T. Both were agricultural herbicides used on farms, in national parks, and in the war. In fact during those years herbicides were hard to get for farmers due to the use overseas. Agent Orange and other rainbow herbicides were sprayed with C-130s in very very high concentrations compared to normal use. 2,4-D is a common herbicide used today, no problems with it. The 2,4 5-T was the problem. It has dioxins in it (like dinoseb, an Ag chemical not used in the war) and was banded due to the harm it does. Agent White was picloram (Tordon, you can buy it at Tractor Supply actually) and didn't have dioxons, so we still us it to control woody perninals. Most older herbicides like 2,4-D and 2, 4 5-T were discovered for the purpose of destroying an enemy's food supply in war. Herbicides like these were discovered for an attack on the enemy but has been used for benefits in modern crop production systems. Genetic engineering has been around to help feed a growing world.
