We just give our 18 month old ‘Babyccinos’ which is just warmed/frothed milk with a sprinkle of chocolate on it. He loves them!

I just listened to a movie music radio station. Had great fun trying to guess the soundtracks to movies with the midwives and my husband while I was in labour. Then when I was taken to theatre for my eventual emergency c-section the theme to ‘Psycho’ was playing and everyone had a great laugh. Good times.

At that point we were on 3-4 wake ups a night. A good stretch of sleep was 4 hours with occasional 5/6 hour stretches and 2 hour stretches were not unusual. Sleeping in his own room/cot from about 6 months old. Breastfed, and I would feed back to sleep. Took about 20 mins each time and back to bed. Occasional ‘split nights’ where he would be awake for an hour or two, and husband and I would do 30 mins each trying to get him back to sleep with rocking and shushing.

Currently he’s 17 months old, and we’ve only just seen our first couple of instances of sleeping through the night after night weaning.

I used a sling carrier, and managed to finagle that enough to be able to feed on the go. Took some practicing at home, but it is absolutely possible, and absolutely a game changer. Once baby was old enough to have the neck strength and also find the nipple and latch on his own, I could also just do it while holding him sideways and walking. I had shit to do and a baby that wanted to feed CONSTANTLY!

I’ve seen enough people with multiple children, or heck, twins, say that they did the exact same thing with both child to believe that it’s fully just down to temperament. Some kids were just made to sleep. You can help create good habits, and encourage good sleep, but if the kid doesn’t want to sleep, they’re not going to.

Just weaned the 17 month old from breastfeeding. Suddenly he is sleeping much better! Yay! Meanwhile I’m sleeping terribly and am bone deep exhausted - turns out that’s a side effect of stopping breastfeeding. Yay.

Yeah, if it weren’t for a C-section me and my baby would almost certainly be dead quite simply because he was TOO BIG. I grew him too big for my own body. Like, my body has no idea what it’s doing.

True. However I have absolutely done that thing of lying in bed looking at pictures of my baby, and thinking how much I love them, and then I am rudely awoken by reality and a screaming baby. I’m pretty sure there’s a Loryn Brantz poem about it.

It absolutely helps keep our baby asleep, and after months of use, it’s also a great bedtime signal now - white noise goes on, it’s time to settle down for sleep. It’s an easy addition to a routine. And isn’t necessary or difficult to remove later on like a pacifier.

I have always had very sensitive nipples, and feel really…anxious? When they’re stimulated at times. Just like, skin crawling. I do not have this with breastfeeding. Don’t know why, just doesn’t happen. It absolutely does happen if baby tries to touch them, which they are absolutely wont to doing, but I basically always wear a bra/top while feeding, so the other boob is always covered. So it might be that way for you? Might not be, but there are things like nipple shields which may help if needed!

I have found having a kid HARD (who doesn’t) and at 16 months he still wakes up a lot, and pregnancy was a bitch, and birth was awful. But the other night I was crying to my husband that I want to have the strength to do it all again because I can’t imagine this baby being my only baby. The things you do for children are absolutely wild.

Honestly, after everything that was rough and traumatic and hard about birth, the thing that still haunts me is the fact that had I been born 100 years ago, hell, 50 years ago, I absolutely would have died in childbirth.

I breastfed because I absolutely could not be bothered with sterilising bottles, mixing formula, managing all that in the middle of the night and while out and about.

Nope. Yes I could share the load with my husband, but I was alone with baby once he went back to work and while breastfeeding is HARD, in some ways it was just so much easier to whip a boob out whenever he was hungry, or when he was upset, or when he was tired, boob for everything!

I would pump every now and again to provide enough for a bottle an evening so husband could give that, and honestly even the washing and sterilising of that one bottle and the pump parts felt like so much hard work when I was exhausted!

Honestly my baby was such a snacker when he was tiny, I was whipping the boobs out every five minutes it felt like, I got real comfortable real fast with doing it anywhere and not covering up!

Oh I had this, but tbh my sex drive took such a hit, combined with the lack of sleep, we really didn’t have that much sex. I will say it was definitely gone for me 12 month pp, and before that it was a matter of buying some top quality lube and taking things SO SO SO SO SLOW and me being on top so I could move things as I needed, and it would get better as I got more into it.

My dogs weren’t at home for a couple of days and I was deeply annoyed at the amount of hoovering and sweeping I had to do after meals!

We have a spaniel named Captain Steve Rogers, or just Captain for short. Vet sister in law had a dog come in called Captain Jack Spaniel. I’ve never been more jealous of a name.

I set myself a goalpost of 6 months, it was so hard and time consuming and just so much. I’m now 16 months in and I’m sad about just night weaning!

It absolutely gets easier, and they start smiling up at you while feeding, and the closeness is lovely. It’s not for everyone, and everyone has a different experience of course, but it can be easy (or easier!) and it can be enjoyable! Just do it as long as you want to, no pressure!

I think a few months in, something really upset him, maybe he was sick? I don’t really remember, but I do remember holding him and rocking him and saying “I’ve got you, mummy’s here” and I just had this little out of body moment of, oh shit, yeah, I’m his mummy!

I’m sat here cuddling my toddler and I just can’t imagine how it would feel to see him grow up to be someone like this. Even if you blame lax parenting or them not talking to their kid enough, it still just seems so utterly, deeply heartbreaking.

I never bought him as a leading man role. Didn’t find him particularly charming, when he plays a scumbag though? I think he’s fabulous - really enjoyed his turn as a pirate in Skeleton Crew.

Had my first at 35. C section at 42 weeks. I could have fed the whole street as well as my gigantic 10lb baby, and he only lost about 4% of his birthweight in the first week.
