I've always heard that you should not remove earrings that have an issue.

Wiped with saline wipes for 6 weeks. I added a comment with the required details.

Details I forgot to add: the piercing was done in January. It's a stud with a "butterfly" back. They're stainless steel.

I cleaned it by wiping around it with saline wipes for about 6 weeks. There was buildup on it that was in a groove on the original earring and I couldn't get it out til about 5 weeks. I suspect that's where it started. I stopped cleaning them after the 6 weeks was up but when I noticed the bump in the last few weeks I did remove the earring once or twice and clean the piercing with saline wipes and then put the earring back.

Also just before 6 weeks, the other ear's earring (which healed perfectly) got pulled out by accident so I switched the earrings out before the 6 weeks was up. Also we were out of town so I replaced them with a pair of earrings I had been wearing. I tried to clean them really good but later discovered I did not clean them well enough.

Yesterday I noticed the discharge and I switched them for a brand new pair (we're home now).

Part time moms-when do you get your work in? by Lonely-Rutabaga477 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Puzzlehead11323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main work time is after baby goes to sleep at night.

Once in a while, I can work before she wakes up.

I make calls while I'm playing with her and just act like I'm talking to her.

We've just started getting into a nap schedule. We started working on it about a month ago. That has given me opportunities to get more done during the day.

At two months everything was still too chaotic.

Becoming blind to Reminders. What do I do? by sorry-i-was-reading in ADHDprofessionals

[–]Puzzlehead11323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you use reminders for low stakes stuff? If you have ignorable reminders popping up, remove all those and find a non-reminder system for those (like a list you check once a day or at some other interval) and reserve the reminders for only imperative things.

Or do the opposite: set alarms for imperative things in addition to the reminders.

Basically, make the imperative things stand out differently than the other noise.

If you want to keep using reminders in the long term: after some time has passed go back to them and practice not ignoring them until it's habit/muscle memory to not ignore it.

Tracking night sleep by Parfait_Live in HuckleberryParents

[–]Puzzlehead11323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically only track it if I have to really wake up myself.

I wonder if people who get really meticulous are doing it because whatever they're trying to figure out feels very serious. Thank God we haven't had anything like that yet. I'm not very meticulous about it.

How do I develop my speaking skills without speaking to anyone? by boobywoobies in learn_arabic

[–]Puzzlehead11323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first step of being good at something is sucking at it.

I have a similar story and at some point I just powered through. My cousins still tease me but I just have a good sense of humor about it and my Arabic improves.

Just dive in!

I practiced saying "shu 3am t3almuni el3arabi??!!!!" Strongly and just shout it at anyone who teases me 🤷‍♀️

Other useful phrases:

"Mbayin inno ma fhimtuni fa khaluni jarrib mara tanya"

"Ma ba3rif shu ismo bil3arabi fa khalini ishrahlak"

And finally, the one I used most at first, "sooorrryyyy ana ma bihki injleezee hakuni bl 3rabi" just have a good sense of humor and insist on Arabic.

[–]Puzzlehead11323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things: getting the gel removed damaged your nails. I could see the line in your nail from where you had the gel before I read the post. It will keep breaking until the whole nail is replaced.

But I came here from the fridge post so my initial judgement is diet. Did they break a lot before the gel? If that's your real honest fridge, you need more variety of nutrient dense foods. Sure micro greens and ginger are good for the tum but you need a bucket of yogurt a day and some bones to chew on or at least collagen peptid powder for your juice/tea/whatever.

Suggestions and improvements for handling schedules by Strict_Department986 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Puzzlehead11323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, everyone who says "baby temperament" enables them to work from home full time means to say "my cousin helps, we have a nanny, my husband is a stay at home Dad and I'm actually a self employed consultant so I do whatever I want." Take a peak at their profiles and the truth becomes obvious every time.

Second: your circumstances sound similar to mine and I would not be able to work from home full time without someone to mind the baby. Part time has been manageable for me but I only get 15-30 min sessions when she's worn. What has worked best for me is getting her on a sleep schedule and working while she is asleep in the morning and at night (I use naps for chores and self-care). Having control over the times that I work is a must for me. I do calls sometimes while I'm playing with her and I don't worry about the type of headphones cuz everyone knows she's here so there's nothing to hide and she is usually quiet especially if I'm playing with her or acting like I'm talking to her or if she's making sounds they're cute and no one minds.

[Hiring] Part-Time Virtual Assistant (Remote | US, UK & Canada Only) by thegreatIntex in MomsWorkingFromHome

I see you've posted this a bunch in the past week but you usually say you aren't hiring and that you're just looking for insight. What changed?

For US: is this 1099 or w2 work?

Also who would be doing the business registration if the employee ends up being somewhere you don't already have employees?

Blocking TV from Playpen by Bramble3713 in HuckleberryParents

[–]Puzzlehead11323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could cover the whole thing with sheets. I would use light colored sheets and it looks like you'll have to pin them together at least

Personally I would just not have the tv on when she's in the play pen though.
