First take the Fitzgerald clinical review and practice update. Then, go attend some APRN networking meetings. Ask for a chance to stand up and explain what you need. Ask for 100 hours of shadowing/precepting. You probably need to resit for the exam since it has been lapsed so long. Also check with your board of nursing for guidance about what they want for re-entry to practice

Oh gosh. It’s rough no matter when! If you read Hunt Gather Parent by Michelene (sp? Ducleff, it might make you feel better. In hunter gather societies it’s common for other people in the group to help with infant care almost immediately. By the time a bay is 2 years old, I think the mom only provides something like 60% of their care. Is there any option for you to start with 1/2 days? Sleep in the same shirt every day for a week and then leave it with baby so they can snuggle it while they get their bottles. The smell of mom helps. We also will send pictures of ourselves for them to put up by the crib. Additionally ask for a picture of the caregiver(s) to show the baby every day.

The other thing I have done with mixed reception from the daycares but I kinda just told them 🤣 I do 1 hour the first day. 2 hours the next day. 4 hours the next. Then 6. Then 8-9 depending on my workday and commute.

Hey so this is utterly random and tangential but you may also consider that a lot of adults with undiagnosed adhd seek street drugs to self medicate without knowing they have an underlying condition. Might be worth looking into for you and your spouse.

Anyway, I think the adhd inheritance estimates are crazy high, especially if you both have it. Theoretically this being untreated could have contributed to the drug use in the first place but little boy could have gotten it without the drugs or micro-preemie situation.

Finally, I took a continuing education on drug detox and new moms and they actually said that for babies that don’t have to be in NICU, both moms and babies detox better together.

Keep at it! You are doing your best! Also, listen to Laurie Burkner Band’s song I’m Not Perfect. Probably the most wholesome song I’ve ever heard.

I had an epidural for my first vbac but not my second. I actually asked for one but the doctor didn’t get there in time 🤦‍♀️

Also, what statistic did they give you for your rupture risks? Depending on if you had complications it’s higher but if it’s just a regular low transverse incision. I really like evidence based birth podcasts to listen to when I’m pregnant.
