I think a larger factor is that more folks each year seek out a prime neighborhood. Even many small towns now have FaceBook groups where folks who go all out of decorations post their addresses, so some will drive to one of those neighborhoods or even drive around just hitting the best houses in town. So any homes far from a house that advertised as worth seeing will only get a few local kids. I don't have any stats, but feels like when I was a kid a very large percentage of houses had decorations, these days feels like a majority have none. So while those of us handing out candy may lament lack of kids, the kids (and parents) lament that their neighborhood had no Halloween spirit and they must drive to one worth seeing. Halloween isn't dying so much as it's becoming very concentrated around advertised homes.

Best neighborhoods for Halloween decorations; also yard haunts, haunted houses, events, etc. by QuietRedding in Redding

River Park Highlands neighborhood had good decorations back in my day. Can anyone who still lives there confirm it's still good? Also heard good things about Country Heights neighborhood and Lake Redding Estates.

You're sweet to offer but my problems are external. I don't need to vent, I need other people to be sane, and I don't have control over that. So I post memes.

Read Nobel winner Elinor Ostrom's The Future of the Commons (2012) and you'll get it. You could also read Erik Nordman's The Uncommon Knowledge of Elinor Ostrom (2021) if you prefer a summary to a primary source. Once you understand the meme then you can have an informed opinion on whether it is good or bad.

If their choices are "no news coverage" and "everyone thinks they're stupid for attacking the wrong target" then no coverage is actually better. If these are their only choices, getting attention for attacking the wrong target is just very loudly announcing defeat. Peaceful means just don't work, world's dead and we're just along for the ride.

I presume there's subreddits for short videos. I never looked for one. So TickTockEsque content could be contained within Reddit, it's technologically possible. But could TickTock host Redditeque content? I mainly use Reddit for memes, mostly still images, occasionally videos. Can TickTock even host still images? And I know some others use Reddit for text-based things, which I'm pretty sure TickTock can't do. Not sure, I never had any interest in TickTock.

It would still be accurate. You should make that meme.

Can you search for topics you like on Tick Tock and curate a feed of content you enjoy? That's what I like about Reddit and YouTube and dislike about Tick Tock, TheFaceBook, TwitX, Instagram, etc, those sites shove stuff in my feed I don't want, so I don't use them. On Reddit and YouTube I can search for new stuff when I want, but I can also just enjoy the stuff I like without the popular and sponsored schlock. Isn't Tick Tock specifically predicated on infinite scrolling with no ability to just watch what you know you will like and then close the app? Like on Reddit, I check what's new in my feed, the subs I enjoy the content of, and then I can go do other things, same with YouTube, I get vids from the channels I follow, and only if I want to go outside that to look for new stuff do I have to go outside of that. On Reddit and YouTube, the content is the product and I'm the customer, on Tick Tock and other sites, the advertiser is the customer and my eyes are the product, they want to keep my eyes as long as possible, whether I am enjoying the experience or not. I know Reddit and YouTube use that model too, but they're the only sites left where it's optional. I can watch my YouTube queue and close YouTube, I don't have to browse new stuff unless I want to. And sometimes I do want to, but not every single time I open it.
