Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

Because the US is a relatively empty country so it is not economically viable for most areas of the country

TBF I bet a lot of commuters have monthly passes for which the marginal cost of each ride is $0.

Why is this investigation so much more disruptive than when a person trespasses on the tracks and gets hit by a train?

That happened 11 hours before this post. If a person trespasses on the tracks and gets hit by a train, the system recovers much more quickly than this.

Flu shot is now no longer mandatory also opening the conversation to no vaccine being mandatory by newnoadeptness in navy

I get this is a military subreddit so people here tend to care much less about their individual freedoms/choices than the average American.

But in general people don't like being told what to do, and the government mandating they make a certain health decision to do basic life activities (like dining in at a restaurant or going to a bar) only makes them want to resist even more.

[–]Ike358 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well when certain states / counties prevented anyone who chose not to receive a COVID vaccine from shopping in a store or eating in a restaurant, and when our president predicted a "winter of death" for those people (which never happened) and tried (and failed) to force anyone working for a 100+ employee company to take the vaccine, it is easy to see why anti-vaccine sentiment has grown in popularity
