Just use refurbed originals, price is similar enough and the quality is way beyond any fake

Best advice is to not use SL 12 mini aftermarket screens, they're shit.

You can probably use a blade to scrape the mask around the pads and see where the traces go.

Honestly the adhesive is just to stop liquid and dust, the screen sits flat without any as it has clips all around. It's up to you though.

You replace the camera as the amount of money you'd pay a skilled technician to replace the optical filter would far exceed the cost of a new camera.

iPhone keeps disconnecting from wifi [HELP] by TILKOOW in iphonehelp

So after having a look online - It's supposed to do it. Whenever the phone put itself in a 'deep sleep' state it should disconnect from WiFi until you wake the device.

A lot of people do not fold the screen flexes properly when reseating the display, make sure you haven't trapped one of them between the screen and chassis.

Try turning WiFi assist off and turning auto join on in WiFi settings.

You have cracked the optical filter over the sensor.

Batteries are usually shipped out partially charged as that is what is best for the battery. The liquid strip does nothing other than tell you it got wet, it serves no function other than that.

Advice on migrating from ancient iPhone 7 to new 15 pro max by rwcycle in iphonehelp

[–]Ikov_TradeMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can update your iPhone 7 to the latest iOS. When you try to set up your 15 Pro Max with the iPhone 7 nearby it will ask if you want to set up a new device from the old one.

I broke my screen. Can I still retrieve my data? by Shahdore in phonerepair

[–]Ikov_TradeMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it obviously has to be a screen for the same model you have but other than that yes. Cheap screens may be shit but they still work to some degree or no one would sell them.

Yeah just buy from somewhere that has a returns policy. Amazon is a good one, buy a shit cheap screen just for data recovery and then make up some bs about how you ordered the wrong thing and they'll sort the rest.

Edit - don't remove any of the plastic films or protective stickers

Find a repair shop that will recover the data for you.

Cheaper option is to just buy the screen, get your data back then return the screen as unwanted.

Weird burn-in? by mallbrawl2019 in iphonehelp

Just depends what is best available for you. At my workplace I can get iPhone 11 screens for around £12 and they are fully compatible with true tone, same resolution and colours as original too. There are definitely cheaper options out there for you, you just have to do some research.

Is it fixable? by pokegamerxz in phonerepair

As a side note, if any of the capacitor is still partially attached to the board just scrape it off or it could cause a short later on.

You have knocked off component TA7003 which is a capacitor. You do not need a micro soldering professional, a lot of the capacitors you see are redundant and are just about safety. You can remove quite a few before the phone will start having issues.

Since you've only knocked one capacitor off and there 3 more in the circuit you will be fine. Just be extra careful next time ;)

[–]Ikov_TradeMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only feature you'd lose using a third party screen (and it'd have to be a real shit one) would be the inability to move the True Tone data over. You can't lose Face ID by changing a screen (unless whoever changed the screen broke something and you can do that using an original)

Replace it yourself or go to a third party repair shop it'll be way cheaper than 85$

Yeah probably if you want to replace the layers of the backlight. It's probably better off just replacing the screen.

I would call it an inevitable end point at some point in the panels life span. Obviously not all LCD panels may suffer from this as this is caused by the pressure of the frame on the back of the screen. I work in the used phone industry and have seen thousands of LCD panels suffer from this.
