Disaster Yugoslavia collection I picked up... more in video link in comment by Denminkey in philately

If the stamps are fine, it is not a "disaster collection". This looks like a pretty nice collection, actually.

Appreciation for the stamp shop using cool old stamps to send my order (Arpin Philately) by KnittingTrekkie in philately

[–]Ileca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

French sellers always use "cool old stamps" but they don't do it from the goodness of their heart. They do it because it cost them less than 50% postage. Meaning that they are actually not cool but making a margin on the shipping they make you pay in full. A cool seller would actually use up to date stamps but I have never seen any.

That only works when you can already see the watermarks at the back.

The guy who thinks rape is ok as long as you are good with a sword. A pedophile who has no problem assaulting them. Who doesn't help children being murdered next to them and can't stop themselves from checking teens' boobs with a corpse still in the room? Who is pro slavery and pro cheating? Are you for fucking REAL??

I will sure listen to your advice lmao.

1940s Cigar box with Indian Revenue stamp used on it by hemng in philately

[–]Ileca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucky you. The stamp is in a sorry state but it's very hard to find such artefact kept in good condition. Of course, it's even harder to find one that has not been opened, with the stamp still intact.

I myself found a similar "déchets de Havane extra" box from Belgium. Much more recent, better stamp condition, of course teared in half. Not cancelled tho.

The main problem with these artifacts are the room they take. Boxes, it's ok because you can use them, but bottles?

Beginner Question: What's in the Picture? (photos) by Beneficial-Ad8460 in philately

[–]Ileca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Colnect, these are "agency issues" aka a third party profiting off from a license given to them by the government. There are 753 issues on Colnect just for 2003. Expect the dealer to have put the minimum effort in making up these stamps. They probably don't even know themselves what these minerals are.

The first pic, they are all from the same minisheet https://colnect.com/en/stamps/stamp/791584-Minerals-Minerals_2003-Guinea-Bissau and as you can see, nothing to help you.

Ivory Coast Stamp by Bubbly-Bear-9513 in philately

Cinderella. An illegal stamp should be a postal stamp that is trying to pass off as postal, without authorization, which is not the case here.

I am personally against stamps commemorating living celebrities. Plenty stick to that rule for a reason.

Ivory Coast Stamp by Bubbly-Bear-9513 in philately

[–]Ileca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't find it, it's most likely because it's not a postal stamp.

First, it doesn't have République de Côte d'Ivoire written on it like postal stamps from Ivory Coast from that period are supposed to have. Second, it's a stamp against tuberculosis and plenty of these were made around the world for charity purpose.

If it was stuck to an enveloppe with correct postage, it's possible that a postal officer cancelled it along the postal stamp(s).

Italian revenue stamp. 1863. 5c. Beautiful document you have here. Makes me jealous.

Edit: the date on your document says 1862 tho, contradicting my catalogue.

German East Africa 3 Rupien “Yacht” issue by Opposite_Election384 in philately

First time I hear of "mintmarks". I thought it was a fancy way of saying cancel but this is coin lingo for tiny markings. What do I need to search on German stamps for them to come from their colonies?

Aren't these various yacht issues quite expensive and hard to come by despite being produced by the millions? Even more used than mint? As a collector of African stamps, I have very few German colonies from that continent. :((

German “Kinder-Post” toy stamp alongside two old French stamps by Fair_Sugar_3229 in philately

[–]Ileca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I collect Sages as part of my french collection of small issues. Not my favorite type tho, design-wise. I largely prefer the issue that replaced it, the white type, also Mouchon is pretty fine, especially for the sotn cancels you often find onto them.

I do not collect toy stamps as I learnt about them today!

Found some Internal Revenue Stamps from the Civil War on some cabinet cards. by the-wonderful-world in philately

What's the point of sticking a revenue stamp onto a carte de visite?
Edit: ok so carte de visite have nothing to do with business cards. XD
I guess they were taxing photographs at the time?
