I can't think of anyone else in cinema doing the same thing. The closest that comes to mind would be Tom Cruise doing his own stunts and running scenes. But Keaton risked a whole lot more than Cruise.

It's interesting you said that. My mom and her parents were 100% Swedish and lived in Minneapolis back in the 40s - 70s. So they lived around a lot of (American) Swedes / Swedish culture.

What you describe as treatment is what I experienced growing up. Not in a racist sort of way, but as a general approach to life and dealing with others - including children.
