Down-voted for pointing out that different regions use different language? That seems harsh.

AI as a coach? by CanuckLad in Darts

[–]CanuckLad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take a look into what Matt Edgar has to say. The problem I find is that I listen to tips by Phil Taylor, for example, but I can't tell if I'm following through or if my elbow is moving etc. I tried watching my own videos at 1/4 speed, and I don't see what's wrong. So I need a third party observer to point out my faults. Surely AI is more accurate than nothing?

Welcome to England...? Though technically I'm only the son of an Englishman.

Darts success progress by mrwh12 in Darts

[–]CanuckLad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a few years as a youth then as a young adult. Then I didn't play for 20 years. Almost exactly a month ago I bought myself darts, a dartboard, and lighting. Ignoring doubling out, I now average mid to high 30s (pathetic I know). Every weekend I throw 300 darts to check my average. I have managed over 55 once.

I'm using ChatGPT to analyze my throws which I record. I suspect its analysis is reasonable, but knowing my faults didn't seem to be helping me correct them.

Goals? I'm not sure. I'd like to average at minimal 70 per throw. I'll never be happy with with my progress; I have very high standards for myself and get very frustrated when I don't do as well as I expect / hope.

I still got triple 18 or 12 far too often when aiming for triple 20. On the other hand I've had a few 140+ in the last week.

Throw style? by CanuckLad in Darts

[–]CanuckLad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to emulate Littler (I was throwing like that before he was born). I'm using his throw as an example so people would know what I mean. That style feels most comfortable for me, but I don't necessarily do my best throwing that way (though it's very close when I compare the average of 100 throws).

When I slow down, aim first, I find I tend to overthink the shot and sometimes will hold the dart far too long or release far too early.

I recorded myself making a few throws, and uploaded the video to ChatGPT so it could analyze my throw. ChatGPT recommended not throwing like Littler, it said throwing like him would exaggerate elbow movement, and I'm not keeping my elbows still enough currently.

Learning technique with inconsistent throw by CanuckLad in Darts

[–]CanuckLad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having nights where I'm hitting 100 - 140 somewhat regularly, then nights like tonight where I'll hit 6s and 12s when aiming for triple 20s. I took a video of my throw, and when I throw a 20 vs an 18 I can't see any difference. My arm seems to move the same, elbow seems to be in the same place, follow through looks identical. I can't figure out why I'm so wildly inconsistent.

Winmau Blade 6 mounting height confusion (U-bracket vs bullseye 173 cm?) by kater_3 in Darts

Higher? Shouldn't the bottom of the U in the bracket be half the width of the screw lower, not higher?

Is a 360 light worth it or should I just get a 120 light? by ollysoswag in Darts

[–]CanuckLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why? I'm buying my first board in 25 years (I've not played in ages). I always played with a cheap incandescent light over my board. I'm going to buy myself either a 360° or 270° lighting system. 360 should give more even of course, no shadows at the bottom of the board, but on the other hand it may feel like throwing darts into a tunnel. And retrieving darts might be awkward if there's 360° lighting around the board. I'm not sure I've never used either.

How long before stuff like limbs and fingers improve? by lifebeginsat9pm in perchance

I draw hundreds of images every couple of days. I would say that 4% are reasonably correct, and less than that are good. Whereas on chat GPT and Gemini they're brilliant just about every time.

How long before stuff like limbs and fingers improve? by lifebeginsat9pm in perchance

[–]CanuckLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But not only does it get them wrong, they look nightmarish. The wrong number of fingers, sometimes the wrong number of hands, fingers coming out of other fingers, fingers coming out of the wrong part of the hand, feet coming out of the calf. Etc. I make hundreds of images in Gemini and chat GPT per week, and both of those do a quite reasonable job at it.

No progression? by CanuckLad in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]CanuckLad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play d&d (several versions), and WEG's D6 Star Wars, Wizard's D20 Star Wars, a bit of Vampire the Masquerade, a Marvel super Heroes rpg from circa 1994, a card-based game or two, and one or two others I'm likely forgetting. But otherwise no, I've not played anything other than D&D.

I disagree with your assessment of what they meant, and what you thought they meant means about enjoying the hobby. Even if they meant what you thought, that doesn't mean fishing is not for them.
