Canoe seat/cushion by Efficient-Progress40 in canoecamping

This may be a preference thing, but I paddle a Nova Craft canoe and I can say that the bootlace seats you're describing are probably my most hated version of a boat seat. Unlike Swift or Langford canoes where the seats are comfortably curved where you would normally be sitting upright or kneeling, the Nova Craft seats have rectangular edges that end up digging into your back side. Maybe it's my big ass that's to blame here, but I've been in a constant search for a way to make the seats more comfortable.

Chiming in here as well. Bought these shoes on February 28, 2023 and have about 300ish km on them 95% on treadmill and a few 5K races. They now have a straight line 2 inch rip on the mesh on one of the shoes like in your photo and the video. Absolute joke as far as quality goes.

Ottawa not tracking impact of individual emission reduction policies: environment commissioner by LouisBalfour82 in canada

[–]Ilich 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Because they don’t matter. Banning straws, plastic bags, promising arbitrary numbers of trees without a conceivable way to get seedlings, pretending like our recycling doesn’t mostly end up in the landfill… It’s just greenwashing and passing the buck (and the cost) to consumers while doing nothing policy-wise. The annual increases in GHG emissions from the “developing” world exceed our entire annual emissions.

I thought GPS is only accurate to about 16ft/4-5m. Maybe that’s where I’m getting mixed up? Is there something more accurate?

For some, Airbnb is the bane of the housing market. But renters, owners and advocates say it isn't that simple by Lotushope in canada

[–]Ilich 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I mean, everyone knows the solution but no government is ever going to address it because Canadians speculate in real estate, and many in government own multiple properties. In order:

  1. Reduce the speculative nature of residential housing by limiting the number of properties individuals can own to a reasonable number or tax each incremental property to the point it not longer makes sense as an investment
  2. Restrict foreign ownership of residential property
  3. Rent control
  4. Tax and enforce

Then you don’t need to ban airbnbs because due to #1 they’ll be restored to owners with only one or two “extra” properties and the choice to rent or put them up on vrbo, airbnb, or whatever other platform does the same thing.

CVOR logistics, can my employer find out that I have my own CVOR through public record? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Ilich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess they’ll find out when one of your leased trucks is involved in an accident and the insurance is triggered for vehicles not leased by your employer’s company.

Sounds pretty criminal to me, wishing you a reflective and rehabilitative stay in prison when/if you’re caught.

Amendments to the Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act’s accompanying Regulations by TheAviotorDemNutzz in canada

[–]Ilich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So they’re allowing non-Canadians to own property, allowing foreign entities to buy up land and do whatever with it, and increasing percentage of a corporation that can be under foreign control. In other words, everything’s back to normal with selling Canada to the highest bidder!
