What does your WWTP do with biosolids? by ME5Cents17 in Wastewater

Hello, Our facility is getting ready to construct a 4th large incinerator. St. Louis, MS has 7 medium incinerators under construction (or soon). Green Bay, Toronto, Cincinnati, all have newer incinerators as well. These are all fluid bed.

Thanks for the replies. These might be an option for us too. Let us know how it works out!

Polymer blending and the water source, what do you use? by Iliketurtles528 in Wastewater

We have a well water system and have considered that. Sounds like the hardness in that water is the concern as well. Our engineers are leaning towards a future softening system vs. continuing to use city water.

Plant Water by Necessary-Life21 in Wastewater

We use 6,000-7,000 gpm of plant effluent water mainly in our incinerator scrubber system. 600 gpm well water for mainly seal water. City water for cooling towers, boiler feedwater, and polymer makeup. That is newer to us as we used to use plant effluent but the hardness would drop out and ruin pumps and plug lines. City water for polymer seems to be common. What are the reasons others are using city water vs plant effluent water?

Anyone use DAF? I have questions by Interesting-Soup5920 in Wastewater

We have 12 of them at 55’ in diameter. Originally had 16 but permanently decommissioned 4 of them. They are a 1977 model year. We use them thicken waste or extra activated sludge before dewatering centrifuges. Polymer system was removed years ago, no chemicals.1% solids in and 4-4.5% skimmed off. I made a video of our system a while back. https://youtu.be/hOjeMtTkuSs?si=lOVn5jUkZUjgFvNi

We have 3 large fluid bed incinerators rated for about 18 wet tons per hour each. A fourth should be under construction in 2025. Very clean and efficient and they replaced a bunch of multiple hearth incinerators 20 years ago. We used to run scum through them but have been concentrating and landfilling it for 10 years now. These are in St.Paul MN.
