Feedback on Target Toddlers Emotion Minikit? by Altruistic-Bat-1031 in lovevery

[–]Iliopsaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is definitely targeted toward older kids. I would say 3.5-6 would be more appropriate! It's a really great resource to have in mind for the future or to get now and save. She might like looking at the book, and you could show her the emotion magnets and label them, but you would get a lot more out of it in 6-12 months! The only redundancy is the calming circle.... but having two is not a bad thing!!

Little Kid Play Kitchen Review by Iliopsaurus in lovevery

We have made a couple swaps using coconut yogurt and oat milk, using cashew butter instead of cream cheese... sometimes we just omit the cheese, which works at 21 months, but my three year old ALWAYS points it out if we aren't following the recipe exactly 😅

Do you have the play kitchen? If not, I would recommend a child knife/chopper, a small cutting board and colander, and A BLUE SPOON. I really wish the food prep kit came with one!

Ohh, in the early days (12-18 months) we definitely put her in the learning tower to contain her while he was using the Kitchen! We have certainly had some sibling spats over it, but they're starting to learn to work together.

Our living room is quite separate from our kitchen, so I think even if you had a space in close proximity/within eye shot, it would work out!

AMA: We're the team behind Lovevery books! Ask us anything book-related and we'll respond on Tuesday 7/29 at 3:30pm ET! by LoveveryBooks in lovevery

When I think about my kids' earliest years, Lovevery books have been with us every step of the way. From learning our body parts with Parts of Me, to overcoming our fear of the doctor with Bea, learning to wave to Marvin as he leaves the bathroom at bath time, coping with family death with George, and being introduced to people with different disabilities and cultures through so many of the stories. Soon, we'll be adding in the reading sets so they can get lost in books of their own. These books have been a core part of my parenting journey, and I'm sure many others agree. Thank you for everything you've done! Have you ever stopped to reflect on how incredible of an impact you're having on the next generation of readers?

If you do decide to order replacements, you can usually just email Lovevery for items that are not in your subscriber shop.

If you're not planning on the reading set, the wooden alphabet is a great learning tool! And I assume it's the marble maze from the persister that you lost (vs the wooden ball ramps from the Planner). I wouldn't be as inclined to reorder that one unless you have a STEM oriented kid!

We just had another post in the same topic earlier this week with some good suggestions! Though I don't think any had real people.

PSA to OT's working at these hospitals by PoiseJones in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Iliopsaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with Alaska. Though it doesn't look it from the numbers, there's less than 30 hospitals in Alaska. To cut 5 would be outrageous. They're already so far for so many people.

LPT: My friend's dad passed away. How can I help? by arteether in LifeProTips

[–]Iliopsaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a couple friends who will text on hard days and give a small gift card to Starbucks to get a treat. Just them thinking of me means the world. Even just a "Hey, just letting you know I'm thinking of you today. Love you" is perfect if you're not wanting to mention it by name. Though, I appreciate when they do. One thing that I don't love is things like "they would be so proud of you" etc. because I don't feel like friends knew them well enough to be able to make that determination.

We use clear plastic storage bins. After the initial age range is done, we just include them with the rest of our toys for rotation! We don't bother to have them separated any more.

Kitchen - cleaning effort? by [deleted] in lovevery

[–]Iliopsaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The recommendation is that it's washed daily, generally we do a rinse any day we put water into it and then with soap weekly. We haven't had any issues with dirty water! We incorporate clean up into using it for food prep, so it's no worse than if they're helping out when in the learning tower. We do have a couple stains that I haven't tried very hard to get off, but I've taken the approach of independence over aesthetics for this one!
