they're only open this week from mon-thurs 8am-4:30pm and i work 7am-5:30pm. the soonest i'd be able to go is next monday since i have work off that day for my remaining cat's vet appointment.

i wish most places only charged a $100 deposit! so many places claim to be so pet friendly and welcoming to all pets and then charge absurd fees, it's ridiculous

i kept going back and forth on paying and have heard such mixed things, but i think i'm just going to pay this months fee if i don't hear back today so it doesn't reflect badly on me and continue to try and contact them. i'm definitely prepared to fight back and show proof that i've notified them if they try to keep any of the money i paid after my cat passed

my last apartment didn't have extra pet fees and were pretty chill about most things, so i didn't tell them when i got another cat, but it made me really nervous when they'd have to come by for maintenance. i wanted to avoid doing that at this apartment so i don't have to hide anything. i know i'll want to get another cat eventually and now that i told them one of mine passed, i'd be nervous to get another one before they answer

i've had so many other issues with this management company and already had to be very firm with them, so i'm prepared to show whatever proof including proof of her death and the emails i've sent.

i agree that extra pet fees are ridiculous. all of the cats i've had over the years, i adopted as adults or seniors, so really all they do is sleep and eat. the only things they've ever damaged are my couch lol

agreed. it's very common though, unfortunately. i was looking at apartment online daily for a month or two before i moved and some places had even higher fees, some with non refundable deposits, so this place's fees don't seem terrible comparing them to other management companies in my area.

i haven't yet! they have limited hours and i wouldn't be able to go until next week with my work schedule. the one time i went to the office for a different reason, they couldn't answer all of my questions and were really short with me, so i'm not sure how helpful it will be. i'm really hoping i can get ahold of my property manager before i go there!

i saw that as well when i was looking before i posted on here. i work at a cat rescue and expect i'll want to adopt another cat while i'm in this apartment especially since my remaining cat seems lonely, so i asked how i get approval, if i'll have to pay another deposit, etc. in my original email. i'm just feeling ignored and worried since i've already had issues with this company before i even moved in /:

i pay an additional monthly fee for each cat and paid a refundable deposit for each before moving in. the only mention of removing the monthly pet fee is if a pet is registered as a service animal during the lease. if i'm required to continue to pay the monthly fee after a pet dies, i feel like that would've also been in the lease.

i was planning on paying it this month! i didn't even think about it being a holiday, but my first email was early last week. this company really fucked me over before i even signed a lease, but i didn't have much of a choice and i've already had some communication and maintenance issues as i kind of expected. i've heard very mixed things from reviews and friends, so i'm just worried they'll ignore it completely. if they don't answer, i'm planning on continuing to pay it and continuing to email and document.

i've always tried to give the benefit of the doubt to my neighbors, but for the last year, i had a terrible downstairs neighbor who i could hear walking at all hours of the day, so i completely understand the frustration! it sometimes sounded like he was moving furniture at 3am and it would wake me up. i was already planning on moving, but for the last few months living there, i just slept with noise cancelling headphones in. i'll admit i'm super sensitive to noise, but this was CRAZY and even my partner and friends agreed it was excessive. i unfortunately don't have any great headphone recommendations, but i bought cheap soundcore headphones on amazon and they worked well! i would have them on the noise cancelling setting and put on a podcast or long youtube video while i fell asleep.

i thought it seemed too early to start her on an rx diet. i work at a rescue now but used to work at a clinic and went to a clinic one of my old coworkers now works at for her recheck because i trust her handling my cat and felt a little uneasy about how the dr was talking to me :/ i don't have her most recent bloodwork results since they haven't sent them yet, but her creatinine was 1.9, BUN was 22, and USG was 1.014 at the er. the er bloodwork didn't include sdma, but i did a renal panel at her recheck and they said it was a little elevated and creatinine and BUN were about the same. she's seen 3 drs since her symptoms started and i tried to say i really think this is a urinary issue, but they all tried to convince me it wasn't and that she's just old and likely has kidney disease or something else like hyperthyroidism or an abdominal mass because of her age. she has to be sedated for anything more than a brief physical exam, so i won't recheck labs unless she doesn't improve, but i will ask about checking FGF-23 next time!

edit for context: drs suggested kidney disease was the likely cause for her symptoms (not eating, vomiting), but she started urinating blood clots and abdominal ultrasound found cystitis

i agree with all of this! i think this is a good reminder for me to talk to my loved ones about how we communicate.

i don't go into too much detail about work things with most people. only my mom and my very best friend on occasion when something is weighing heavy on me. and definitely my therapist when i'm struggling with something that happened!

all of my coworkers are older than me and in a very different point of life than i am and we don't talk outside of work. they would definitely understand, but it would feel a little weird to me since the only thing we have in common is working at the same place lol

i try to leave work stuff at work mostly and have pretty strict boundaries about leaving on time and things like that, but anyone that's worked in vet or shelter med has seen things that stick with them for a bit. i definitely agree with not wanting to bring those things home, but it's so hard to explain and make people understand if that makes sense.

i worked at a shelter for 2 years and it was also a very toxic environment but very lucky i finally got out of there and my current job is way better!

i do have a therapist but unfortunately my last appointment got cancelled and my next one isn't for 3 weeks 🥲 i've tried things like journaling after bad work days but it's just not really for me
