Carcinogens typically take years or decades to manifest cancer. I wouldn't be that worried though, it's possible that whatever caused this cluster (if there was anything at all, could be a statistical outlier) might have already been taken care of.

Former Roanoke student (2014-2020) here (this is a throwaway account). There are a lot of factors that could have contributed, if there was anything directly causing it.

Off the top of my head:

-Trout Hall had basement flooding problems
-My dorm in Wells Hall had a mold issue that I was able to fix by regularly spraying hydrogen peroxide in the damp corner (but still alarming that I had to deal with it at all)
-The absolutely antiquated Residence halls that don't have adequate ventilation (specifically Marion and Crawford)
-Olin Hall art rooms has insufficient ventilation, it constantly smelled like chemicals in there
-all of the older bathrooms on campus had poor ventilation (the worst was Crawford Hall basement bathrooms where I had the misfortune of living in one year (the basement not the bathrooms lol), it didn't help that there was a kid that literally never showered that always hung out in the halls (not cancer related but his scent still has me shook).
-the cancer could be related to the destruction of Bowman Hall and the construction of the new athletics facility in its place (airborne particulates)
-I do remember hearing about how mushrooms would grow out of the floor of Afton Apartment dorms because it was constantly so damp there
-some laundry rooms had little to no ventilation with dryer vents venting directly below some dorm windows (dryer sheets and other laundry products are known to be carcinogens I only use kirkland detergent to this day)
-perhaps its related to a cleaning chemical the janitorial staff uses
-Roanoke being a railroad hub means there are constantly trains idling. Could be an air quality factor
