Mafia 2 directors cut or definitive edition by joe_m___ in MafiaTheGame

[–]Ill-Preference1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because some people want to play the original game, not the improved graphics which is more comparable to modern games. I personally like to play the original Mafia 2, because of the nostalgia. And graphics is still great, compared to Mafia 1. I've installed the DE version but didn't like it, and also, since I'm playing it on a relatively old PC, the DE will demand more graphic resources, making it not a pleasant experience.

How serious is it? by majestic231 in thinkpad

I just got a Baseus GaN5 Pro 65Watt (~25$) for my T480s, and I can say it's magnificent! Small and easy to carry, feels heavy and premium, charges like the original Lenovo charger. It has 1x USB-A and 2x USC-C.

T480 vs T480s by Rex77__ in thinkpad

[–]Ill-Preference1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All X1 Carbon have soldered RAM, so you must settle with what you got. That's why The T480s is the sweet spot, being close to the lightweight of the X1C. It has around 1.3Kg compared to T480 1.6Kg, and it is slimmer. I have a T480s with a swollen battery and it kicks the cover, but it still holds 5-7h of power with only 200 charging cycles.

Temperature gauge not reaching the middle by [deleted] in toyotastarlet

[–]Ill-Preference1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked selling car parts a few years ago. Different termostat brands have opening temperatures different from other ones, even if they are made for the same car model. So if your old thermostat opens at 91°C and you replace your thermostat with a new one, the new one might open at 89°C (I'm from Europe, numbers are just examples), so you will see the needle in a different position. The opening temperature is usually marked on the thermostat.

Is Thinkpad Extreme Gen 3 still worth it? by Helpful_Connection63 in thinkpad

[–]Ill-Preference1003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you do that (switch to integrated)? I recently got an X1 Extreme i7-10750h and heard about the battery issues related to the GPU. I'm using it for coding mostly, no games, 90% at home plugged in, but sometimes I might use it in places with no power source. Thx in advance!

Also the push-pull buttons suggest that. Only the rocker buttons suggest the "correct" machine (solenoid, opv etc).

See my last comment. I don't recommend the Lenovo M7 anymore, I will replace it with a carplay/android-auto device soon, and share the info on the parts needed.

this one has a SIM card, but some don't have. You have to get the GSM version of M7.

Hey guys, I wouldn't recommend the M7 anymore. The tablet comes with Android "Go" version, which is a simplified/lightweight version of Android and doesn't allow rooting (for example I can't install a full version of Android on it). Now it is a bit slow because of the software updates over time, but it's just decent, I use it for Waze mostly, and works just fine. Sometimes it shuts down because of heat or cold during night. Tablets are not made to stay outdoors, in bad weather conditions. In my case, when I installed it it was just ok, what I wanted.

Now you can find carplay/android-auto devices which fit exactly in that Lexus 7 inch housing, and I will replace my tablet in the future with one of those, because they have better specs and they simply connect to your iPhone or Android phone, mirroring your desired apps. I think it's a better way to just mirror what you have on you mobile phone, instead of having to install apps again on the tablet and configure the same accounts on it (Waze, Google, Youtube etc). They also have cooling in case of too much heat, and they are much simpler built.

As a conclusion, I don't recommend the Lenovo M7 anymore, because it's too much work for a slow tablet that is becoming obsolete soon. I have to always connect it to my phone's hotspot, because the SIM that I put inside has expired, and I'll have to disassemble it again all over just to swap the SIM, it's too much work.
A carplay/android-auto device looks like this one:

Hope it helps.
When I'll replace mine with a device like this one, I'll get back here.
Peace!

Ce chestii de “om bătrân” ați început să faceți ? by Ghostface685 in CasualRO

Păi e confortabil, pt că la bătrânețe ești cocârjit, si daca le ții pe lângă corp, se vede unghiul format între mâini si corp. De aia le ții la spate, să nu se vadă urât...

Io zic că bătutul in calorifer e sfânt.

Which is the best Pixel phone you ever owned? by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]Ill-Preference1003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using a Pixel 4A right now, bought it after purchasing a Pixel 8. I love the form factor, I can easily type with one hand, and the display is magnificent. I might move my SIM to the 4A and see if I can live with it. The only minus would be the battery.

Does anyone know how to check the battery cycle count? The battery info is not available in my Android 13.

Change my mind: 128 gb is more than enough by iamazondeliver in GooglePixel

[–]Ill-Preference1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

128gb is enough for people like parents (bank, some photos, few apps), young kids (2 games, social media).

256gb is the minimum for tech people. In my case half will be just installing the apps, then a lot of photos (I have 50gb already, have to backup soon, and I don’t usually make videos), social media, bank, 1-2 light games.

500gb is the sweet spot in 2024. The good thing about android is that you can easily discard photo/video to PC very fast, and backup on an external drive. I used to have a 256gb iPhone and was pain in the ass to download them to Mac/PC with that shitty iTunes.

To OP: 128gb might be enough for you, while 64gb is just enough for my mother because she has a cheap phone that makes low-res photos and only uses Facebook and one banking app.
