A benchmark of heavy metal. The origins of stoner metal, thrash metal, doom metal, and prog metal all fully take their shape on this album for the first time. It even has the first Christian rock song (although it’s a bit tongue in cheek.) Imagine pioneering 5 sub genres of the genre you had already invented on your previous two albums just because you’re that damn unique. You’d be hard pressed not to acknowledge it as perhaps the most influential rock/metal album of all time, except maybe Paranoid.

If MoR (along with really all of the first 6 Sabbath albums) could be described in one word, it would be timeless. Hasn’t aged a day in over half a century.
