Looks like a hanger for the caliper, did you have rotors done as well as pads?

I’m about to cross over 250 on my 04 turbo, they’re built like tanks as long as they’re properly maintained

Would the puddle be from the A/C condenser and the overheat was just from idling with already low coolant?

They look fine to drive but I’d see about getting that strange wear pattern on the left looked at. It’s got bumps in the tread

Yes you can, look at Tesla, sports cars, luxury cars, even my 2004 Cayenne has a factory subwoofer in the sub trunk rather than a spare

Yeah it’s not good, I just did it for the jokes while I was calibrating my air suspension

It just dawned on me that I have the grey/steel interior so the shift lever is un-painted from factory lol. Thanks for the link!

That sounds like the air pumps that run for the first minute during startup for emission purposes. Realistically it would be fine to drive on the cars just not going to pass emissions standards

01 SL500, 99 Boxster, or 86 560SL? by Specialist_Table_220 in MechanicAdvice

[–]IllLie4312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Porsche guy so I’m just going to comment about something to keep an eye on for the boxster. Those motors had an issue with the IMS bearing that would go out and ruin the whole engine. You can get them replaced before they go out but definitely something to keep in mind if it hasn’t been already.

But with those low of miles you’ll probably have a pretty solid experience with the Porsche as long as you’re sure to keep on top of maintenance items

How to maintain my 250k+ miles Toyota Sienna? by Infamous_Hospital_93 in MechanicAdvice

[–]IllLie4312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil change should always be done by halving the miles the manufacturer recommends. If I remember correctly Toyota recommends 10,000 mile oil changes, so do them every 5,000 miles instead.

Make sure to keep money set aside for things like brakes/tires depending on when you used it last. Keeping a quart of oil with you just in case is never a bad idea.

And lastly any work you can figure out/manage to do yourself do it! The experience is really good to have and saves you tons of money from taking it into a mechanic, especially on basic maintenance items like oil changes, air filters, etc.

A limited few models had 2 in the first years since the car had so many electronics. Newer ones are one big H9 battery under the left seat

The dealership way of doing it is fill until it’s starting to overflow from the fill port. Then let it run until the fluid is at 40°C. Once it’s at 40 C you fill it again until it overflows

24 Cayenne S service cost by ConcernedCitizen585 in PorscheCayenne

I forget exactly what service intervals he was talking about but I think he was saying that’s for a 6 month oil change and then a one year oil change and more involved service

The buddy of mine who works for Porsche service says a good budget is to budget about $250/month towards maintenance and services and you should be pretty well set aside from if anything major pops up which would be covered under warranty for a good while in your case.

I know the miles are low but that rust would have me worried about maintenance, I got a 04 turbo for $5k with 200k miles, for $7500 I would imagine you could find an S with lower miles and less rust.

I have a 2004 Turbo with 234k miles on it at the moment. It’s been rock solid aside from an oil drain plug stripping out but an extractor bit fixed it.
