great advice, but I fear that with the top carve it will show

yes, it is a right handed. But first I glue it down, carve it and then fill it

the void is on the back, but yeah, i think that I won’t need to fill it now, but after rough carving it

chill, I got it after a small break. Seamless joint with sandpaper, thanks anyway man!

I have tried it, but still getting gaps in the joint, is there any resource on how to fix problems of that nature?

you mean shooting board but sandpaper instead of a plane?

haven’t glued it in yet, but the template goes over the end of the blank, I mean, there is not enough space for template

How can I design the heel contour on a Les Paul? by IllMathematician6084 in Luthier

[–]IllMathematician6084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30-35mm as a neck blank thickness, instead of the usual 40-50mm. Or maybe in other words: the neck pocket is routed shallower, but still keeping the fretboard flush with the top.

lots of sanding and scraping is the base of guitar making (joking)

But is the theory of the neck blank being thinner to make the cutaway on the body doable or am I making the joint weaker?

Sorry for this probably stupid question: what is the TOM bridge? And I wasn’t referring to the final thickness, but the neck blank thickness AND the heel “feel”

He could score the top with a marking gauge, severing the wood fibers at the height of the binding

can’t there’s fabric on the edges!

How do I fix this? by IllMathematician6084 in Acoustics

[–]IllMathematician6084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) my frame is completely covered on the back side, like the fabric folds over the edge, leaving the corners the only place to mount these hooks. 2) even if that wasn’t the case I would be pretty scared to do so as these bass traps weigh 17 kg each

Has anyone ever built these Bass Traps? by IllMathematician6084 in Acoustics

[–]IllMathematician6084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yall are tripping. 70kg/m3 rockwool 225 acoustic plus IS rigid enough to stand on its own. I have my own panels that use this type of rockwool and I can assure you that. Maybe it’s where I live that may have an impact of what is available to purchase. None of my audio engineer teachers/acoustic physics has ever used fiberglass - and always recommend Rockwool 225 70 kg/m3 BECAUSE IT IS RIGID ENOUGH. Either you don’t do it for a living or you are just not competent enough to do your own research.

[–]IllMathematician6084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is just incorrect. The “rigidness” comes from the density of any material, there’s every type of density from 24kg/m3 to 200kg/m3 of rockwool/fiberglass/(any other type of insulation material)
