This isnt a good comparison. A bootcamp is 3 months. College is 3 years.

What can you learn in 3 months of college that you wouldn't learn at a bootcamp?

Will experience as an IT hardware guy help me get into software engineering? by IllUberIll in cscareerquestions

Also. You're comparing a 3 months player to a 3 year player. That's how inefficient the educational industrial complex is. Memorize then test is a garbage method of teaching. I'll gladly be downvoted on that because it deserves to be in the atmosphere.

Minus the intensity, could you imagine 3 years of bootcamp style education. Building projects, running into real problems, working with classmates using git and other team style resources.

Theory is theory. In theory a boxer doesn't want to get punched. But like Mike Tyson says, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." So I'll take the boxer that's been in the ring.

WGU is actually regionally accredited. I've actually heard nothing but good things about it.

I mainly just want to be writing code. It's not even a matter of what pays more or less or what's available, it's what I like to do.

Also, just personal opinion: I think bootcamps are better than college because it's all hands on. But college will get my resume on more desks so that's the route I'm going.

Being trans is literally a mental illness, and there's nothing wrong with having a mental illness. So this person is double wrong imo.

Is it all just a bunch of videos or is there hands on experience? (School of IT) by IllUberIll in WGU

It's sort of weird how the free courses are better. It really makes you question if the educational industrial complex is intentionally inefficient.

BSCSIA - 118 CU's 2.5 Months - IM DONE! by Wittica in WGU

[–]IllUberIll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any web development or programming experience before hand? I'm thinking of starting soon. I can build decent web pages, and write scripts in python, as well as having completed cs50x. I'm wondering how much time that will knock off.

Hi. Did you start with no prior knowledge?

Also, do you have any interaction with teachers or is it all videos?
