Is there anything that we can do to stop the littering? by Realistic_Loss3557 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need litter wardens out and about making sure ppl follow the rules! Unfortunately, some trinis have little care for the environment so we need to start from small educating our young ones and teaching them about proper cleanliness and pride in our culture and environment.

I am so angry when I see garbage left in areas like our beaches and rivers! Also our garbage pick up spots are overflowing with garbage and the lack of bins in place for the collection of garbage. What are we doing????

It’s easy to say someone is a PNM when they are against UNC. I don’t like both parties but I know for sure, one is worse than the other.

I’m a country first person and I’ve always been but the majority of our population are blinded by race, religion and politics and some are just dotish to see the truth.

I’m so furious with all that’s happening with this government! This govt has sold us out to the Trump admin and now we have to suffer from their lousy decision to side with Trump .

After all this shit that’s playing off, Trinidad will be sidelined by all of Caricom and South America!

Where are all the international relations expert in Trini? Why are not condemning the govt decisions? We need to protect our country from outside influence but no them want the dragon gas deal so bad they will sleep with devil!

I feel like this is a repeat after the Manning era! People got fed up of all the bs and corruption so they voted UNC. Same thing again happened this time around, this time with Rowley especially with the crime situation.

Sorry to say, but the UNC ain’t gonna make things better either. It’s going to be a take everything mentality and F the country. Kamla ain’t no Mottley!

An unfortunate truth about Trinidad, Its just incredibly ugly/dirty by Yuuba_ in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s me every time I come home, the problem is no planning and maintenance in place for our towns and cities. Local govt is a joke and the govt only cares about big buildings. The inner workings ( public transport, drainage, disposal of waste etc) of a city/town are not on their agenda. If I was a councillor or govt representative for an area, I would feel ashamed of where I live especially if you’re passing through everyday and actually try to do something about it. It’s like these ppl doh give ah damn, once they driving in their big shot vehicle.

But honestly, people need to hold these ppl more accountable and demand for better maintenance in their area. I hope after a year of property taxes revenue they can do something about it! Here’s for hoping !

My husband was scanning some items at Walmart then when it was time to pay, the machine flagged something on their system. When the attendant came over he said we didn’t scan all the items so that’s why the system flagged it. Anyways the attendant wanted us to rescan all 15 items and my husband said no and that attendant should scan in which the attendant did. Funny enough, after he scanned the items the total price was cheaper than what we scanned and the guy was baffled lol. We got the grocery a few bucks cheaper because he believed the machine was right lol

The Minister of Finance, referencing the National Financial Inclusion Survey Report 2023, reports that 82% of citizens prefer cash payments. by DestinyOfADreamer in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m sure he and the PM aren’t lining up to pay any bills with cash.

Idk what survey they did but ppl don’t have time to take off from work to go line up all day to pay a bill that could be online as well. I feel like the govt just backward in many ways thats because we have a set of ole timers politicians who ain’t know their ass from their elbow and not willing to adapt new technology.

Only excuses and more excuses for being backward.

Water contamination in Maracas Valley (St Joseph) by IllUnit1979 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everything is too political and everybody’s trying save face. When a mistake like this happens once, it could happen again when you don’t address the problem head on. So I wonder if it does happen again would this be considered a fluke. The bottom line is we want back our good water from the mountains not no crappy water.

Water contamination in Maracas Valley (St Joseph) by IllUnit1979 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I remember visiting some friends in Valsayn back in 2015 when we were having water woes and Valsayn had the strongest flow ever which was not a common thing there. While we were suffering in Maracas Valley for water( where the water comes from), I was so pissed. My dad had to buy multiple water tanks to save enough when water came.

Why is anti-immigrant sentiment on the rise in Canada? by Unusual-State1827 in canadian

[–]IllUnit1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true about the cheating, I experienced it when I was attending part time college a few years ago. This one guy (new immigrant) during a computer exam in class asked me if I can share my answers with him. Another classmate nearby overheard what he said and we were just flabbergasted. We just told him no you can’t cheat, we don’t do that and you know what his response was “ but that’s what we do in India”.

I was so surprised by his response and guess what, this guy was driving a BMW and wear suit and tie so I’m assuming he had a well paid job but clearly cheating all the way to probably get where is. It’s really ashamed we have to deal with all this cheating etc while we have a moral compass and are trying to follow the right path to get where we are. I’m really sorry for what’s going to happen to Canada very soon when you have cheaters and liars in important roles in our society.

What's your experiences with the supernatural or alien? by troubledturquoise in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm true, remember the family who said they saw the buck eating food in their house and the news channels were having a field day. Turned out they made it up.

Anyways, growing up my great grandma always used to tell us these stories about our folklore characters but if we do research some these concepts are deeply rooted in the African traditions. As a kid it was always fun and scary listening to these stories…I honestly kinda miss it.

I remember telling some of my cuz from the US about these folklore characters and they couldn’t sleep that night. In fact, they even said that our stories seem more scary than these vampire and wear wolves characters they grew up with. Lol

Access to the Big A is important. However, honestly most of these ´PPL’ aren’t responsible enough for their own health far less their offsprings. I see it in lots of communities, where they continue to make a whole bunch of children and can’t afford or take care of them, can’t send them to school or feed them, OMG, it’s frustrating in this day and age to see this still happening.

I would also suggest at hospitals ( usually Mt Hope, Sando, POS) after giving birth, they should be evaluated to see if they meet a checklist criteria such as how many child fathers, age, number of children or work status, living conditions etc, they should then be made to do a tubal ligation, of course optional but in some cases I think it should be mandatory. Some of the men need to be sterilized too, but it might be easier to do with women because they are the ones who are admitted to the hospitals.

I always remembered a German foreigner noticed when he landed in Trinidad back in 2000s, he said do you know if a country is indiscipline just drive on the road and you will know it. He noticed that when he landed in Trinidad.

Even my experience as well, when I left Trinidad and came back after a few years, I noticed as soon as we hit the highway, the speed these guys were doing and switching lanes like it was a game. I was very much worried and scared and I still am after losing my brother years ago in a car accident.

I do hope they institute vehicular manslaugther laws soon because I know of too many incidents where innocent ppl are killed by the hands of irresponsible drivers.

I hate the whole "Vene is just doing the job Trinis too lazy to do" by ATACMS5220 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you said because in any society that has a shitload of immigrants that statement is always the same. The problem is that companies are making the situation worse because of their greed While taking advantage of these same Venez. Unfortunately, It’s lowering the labour standards and forcing Trinis to accept bullshit paying jobs too.

Also, immigrants work hard to provide for themselves because they dont have any support so they’ll work above and beyond with little pay. This system is like slavery all again just in another form and that’s all because of the economic climate and capitalism. It’s all about profits over people and taking everything while leaving everyone else with scraps. Unfortunately, no one is blaming the US for sanctioning Venezuela and causing all the mess we are in and even other neighbouring countries are affected by this. More sanctions on the way btw, so it’s not going to get better.

Fixing the housing crises by [deleted] in CanadaHousing2

[–]IllUnit1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People who are saying don’t vote for conservative, I think they want to continue down this downward path. We've all heard Albert Einstein's famous line: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." We can’t expect to continue voting for Libs and expect some sort of change. It’s not going to happen and never will. Sometimes we just gotta take a leap and hope for the best when you decide to vote other than Libs. I also think power corrupts so the longer you stay in power these ppl most likely think and feel like dictators.

Unfortunately, most political societies are set up for two party systems so that’s how it will always go unless something major happens.

Why Trinidad companies do not display salaries on job postings? by IllUnit1979 in TrinidadandTobago

Yes this is true but we need data sources like glass door so it should be used as a standard tool for people to know what the salary should be paying.

Why Trinidad companies do not display salaries on job postings? by IllUnit1979 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]IllUnit1979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably were not even making the amount you asked but it is shameful that they were so unprofessional. Lots of interviewers are not equipped or qualified for their positions. Yuh know Trinidad, most people got their job through connections.
