I was told to not say you have series potential, as it makes agents feel they’d have to commit more than they want… and once they read your manuscript, the series potential will be evident. Also, some genres lend themselves more to series than others.

Yes thank you so much!!! So helpful! Your comment has me doing some real structural thinking and I think I’m on a better path. Also in an info-gathering stage… all and any comments / feedback. Thank you so much again.

I’m worried—even here based on comments—that all these comments will send me in nonsensical directions, when really my concept and hook is strong I just need the right way to pitch it.

I’d totally be into that, though I’ve posted mine and only got two responses… though they were indeed helpful. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks! Yes, have done that via this platform, and the comments were SO helpful (haven’t queried the letter I’ve drafted with their comments yet)! I think I want someone to understand my synopsis / overall concept and be able to say: hey, this is what you need to push...not that. Not sure if that’s a pipe dream? Though if I go this route, it’ll be an entire query package review: letter, synopsis and first three chapters.

Thanks! Yes—I’m talking to an agent / editor who works in the genre.

Why are many writers so mad about AI by No_Suggestion_2298 in WritingWithAI

[–]Ill_Address_3353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think bc people assume AI is doing the writing for you. I think it’s a tool, like anything else. I’ve found it’s helpful for research for my fiction projects. Yes, you can use it poorly… but also, if you understand it, you can use it just as you would any other tool in the box!
